Hey folks,

Because this is our first mid-west con in two years, I have a feeling a lot of people have a LOT of tokens they want to convert. Please bear in mind that while we have a good crew of volunteers in the transmuting room, it's a small crew and we are only human. We can only process so many tokens per hour. If you back a metaphorical truck up to the transmuting room and dump a ton of tokens on us, it's not reasonable to expect them to be converted with alacrity. On the flip-side, even though you may only be turning in a few tokens to be converted, there will likely be many others ahead of you with big or small orders to be completed.

We're all very excited to have in-person TD again and we're going to do our very best to turn-around all your tokens ASAP, but let's not let that excitement turn into hurt feelings if your token exchanges aren't completed lickety split. Are we on the same wavelength here?

Thank you in advance. 🥰
If you want to expedite your token exchange process, here are some things you can do to make the exchange process go faster:
1) Fill out your paperwork now so it's ready the second you walk into the transmuting room. You can download the form here or from this stickied thread.

2) Do not forget to include your verified recipe checklist(s) along with your completed & signed order form when you turn in your submission. A complete and completed recipe checklist is not optional.

3) Fill out the form legibly. Don't write so you can read it, write so a stranger can read it.

4) Organize your bags. Specifically:
  • Face all your tokens in the same direction.
For recipes whose total ingredients number in the single-digits, don't worry about facing them. Keeping two or three tokens aligned and ordered in a bag is nearly impossible.
  • Whenever possible, don't make bags with lots of free-floating tokens. Obviously, this doesn't apply to bags of tokens numbering in the single digits.
  • When submitting a Transmute, place the tokens in the bag in the same order they are on the recipe checklist.
  • When submitting a Transmute whose recipe requires more tokens than can fit in a single snack size bag (I'm looking at you relics and legendaries), fill multiple snack size bags and then put all of those smaller bags in a single larger bag. Again, keeping the tokens in checklist order really helps.
  • Make sure the tag you put in each bag is facing out so it can be read before the bag is opened.
  • Do not put more than one tag in a bag. This is particularly true if you're making a 3× or a 6× bag. Do not put three or six tags in one bag. Put in one slip with 3× or 6× written after the Trade token's name. See the FAQ near the bottom of this page for details about 3× and 6× bags.
  • Keep like items together. E.g., if you're making 20 each of DP, AI, and MS, grouping all the DP together, all the AI together, and all the MS together helps.
  • Use printed, not hand-written bag tags. If you want to create your own tags, that's fine, but use a plain font that's at least 14 points in size.
  • Do not tape your bags shut.
  • Do not "roll" your tokens in a manner similar to how one might receive bulk change from a bank.
Assuming you've read this far, you may be saying to yourself, "Sheesh! That's a lot to take in!" Indeed, it is. As I said above, these tips are for people who want to maximize efficiency.

Quick question

Is it fine to leave a 20 pack of trade goods intact in there roll that we got from TD. I assume this ok, but if not I’ll stop doing that on orders.

Another quick question:

What are the best practices for transmutes whose recipes require significantly fewer tokens than can fit into a single snack size bag? I'm thinking of things like Shirt of the Elder that only require 3 tokens total.

Recipes like those are difficult to keep stacked in checklist order as they move around a lot in the snack sized bag. Is it preferable to use a smaller bag, like the various gem/bead bags gamers often use for board game components?

Great question Marc D.
For recipes whose total ingredients number in the single-digits, don't worry about facing them. Since there are so few, keeping them aligned and ordered is nearly impossible. Furthermore, the time saved by aligning them precisely is negligible. Using tiny bags isn't necessary.

What is the preferred way to bag GP for multiple reserve bars?

example: I have 11000 loose GP and I want to make one 5k bar and six 1k bars.

Do I need seven separate Ziploc bags with exact change in every one? Or can I do something simpler, like

one "5k" bag, one "1k x5" bag, and one "1k" bag?
one "5k" bag and one "1k x6" bag?
one bag for all of it?

P.S. I don't see this case mentioned in the FAQ, but AFAICT a "1k x5" bag should be no harder to count than a 5k bag, and truedungeon.com/reserve-token-redemption says "please make sure the total GP value of all the tokens you’re submitting is evenly divisible by 1,000" (emphasis mine)

Please make one bag for each token you wish to get back. To use your example, please submit one bag with 5k GP in it and six separate bags with 1k each. It's easier for us to keep track of them that way.

There are still players from the "old days" that 1) may still have very small denomination GP tokens and 2) remember a time when we had 250 GP , 500 GP , and
2,500 GP Reserve bars. That comment is primarily for them.
