TOPIC: XP Fix for 10th Level

XP Fix for 10th Level 5 years 6 months ago #1

Another thing that got messed up around Gen Con was the change I made to the XP chart here:

truedungeon.com/how-to-play/item/12-rewards

Before the Con I changed the number needed for 10th level from 60,000 to 70,000. However, I did not make sure it got changed in the XP calculator, so FIVE folks thought they made 10th level after Gen Con. Sorry, but the big 10th level reward won't happen until 70,000 XP. This was changed for a variety of reasons, and it was handled poorly by me. Thanks for any patience you can throw my way.

While you were fixing the Calculator, did you see if any of the other levels needed fixing? I think it is rewarding level 8 2k shorter than it should at 28k instead of 30k.

This is old school AD&D style.
Characters rise up too fast,
Hit them with a Vampire or Specter,
To chill them out a bit.
They Don’t like it, then hit them with a Ghost,
1d4X10 Years Per Hit.

So if you don’t like it. You could get aged
Up to 40 years. So don’t complain.
When a Falcon's Strike breaks the body
of its prey, it is because of timing.

D&D, been playing 35 years
GenCon, been going 23 years Straight
True Dungeon, been playing 16 years Straight and all 4 events last year.

I believe you, I was 7th level with 28k XP last time I logged in. I'm 8th now as I just made the new cut. Thanks Vipers Pit! That 1k XP came in handy for me.

It's been that way for a while, I suspect it was easier to change the requirements rather then the code/run the risk of annoying people who were showing 8th lv to early and might have felt like they were level drained.

This way also continues the triangle progression (1-3-6-10-15-21-28), which the math nerd in me is always a fan of.

I'm now more confused, and may have had XP bug and never realized it. I was 1k short of lvl 7 going into Gen Con (20k). Picked up 6k (N1-N3 HC/NM) at Gen Con and now show lvl 8 at 28k. So either somehow a run got counted twice since Gen Con or i never noticed a run that didn't get counted and in some
web update finally got added in.
