TOPIC: A few questions

A few questions 7 years 3 months ago #1

This will hopefully be my first TD Event, so I had a few questions.

If I'm reading correctly, I need to spend $10/20 on a badge and then $25 on a ticket, making it $35/45 total to go to the event?

Will this event be accessible to beginners and will we get a free pack of tokens like others?

How many people will be in each party and can we do a party with just our friends/people we know?

Overall, I'm glad they finally brought it back to So. IL since I missed it last time and I'm excited to hopefully be able to go with a group of friends.

Yes you need a badge and tickets to play.

Yes beginners can play.

10 people in a party.

If you get all the tickets (10) then yes you can just play with your friends assuming that you are 10 or less.

Welcome!

Jedi already answered your questions, but I'll expand a bit in terms of running with your friends, based on assumptions of how TD is ticketed at other events.

1. Each run contain 10 slots. There are 12 character classes, each player ends up playing one character:

truedungeon.com/resources

2. If you buy all 10 slots for a given run, and you have a group of 10, then you'll all run only with your friends.

3. It is permissible to buy all 10 slots, and then run with a smaller group (for instance, maybe you have only 8 friends). Be aware that some puzzles or rooms may be designed to work best for large numbers of people. Some rooms may even be impossible to solve with a small number (1, 2, 3...).

4. If you have a smaller group, say 4 friends, you could buy all 10 slots and then try in the forums here to find 6 other people to join you who would be willing to agree with your group's selection of classes, etc.

For GenCon you'd have no problem filling your runs and getting people to pay you for the other 6 tickets.

At this event I have no idea if you'll be able to get people to join you / pay you for the other 6 tickets.

5. If you have a smaller group, you could also seek here on the forums for someone who is buying a full run, and who could take on your group to go with them. I imagine there will be a lot of planning / matching here in the forums after tickets go on sale.

I would definitely suggest either buying out your own runs then filling the remaining space (what I do at conventions) or look for others who have done that and are open to letting you join (what I do with extra space at conventions)

Many of the forum veterans have multiple characters they play and/or have loaner builds they are willing to allow others to borrow so that they get to experience the class fully. Several of us specifically host new players to help foster a good experience for the fresh blood.

I agree with Matthew and Arcanist. I second what Matthew said though that we have no idea if people will be buying/selling extra spots for this event.

I can only say I am only planning on getting two tickets vs Gen Con when I get 40ish.
