TOPIC: Dancing (12:02pm) TDA17118218 (combat) Friday

Dancing (12:02pm) TDA17118218 (combat) Friday 6 years 9 months ago #1

Hello everyone.

3 of us are new to TD, in fact this will be our very first 'con' and we're very excited. Just looking to be a bit prepared for TD and checking in to collaborate our efforts with the others in our time-slot.

Looking forward to it!

Hello,

My group of 6 will be joining you for this run. 2 of the group are brand new to TD and to gencon. And Myself and the other 3 have ran 2-4 runs through TD and been to the con several times. So none of us are overly experienced. We are doing part 1 Thursday evening.

People in my group
Donavon
Sam
Dave
John
Devyn
Trevor

I will try to help you with any questions you have, Donavon.

I guess that makes me the 10th member for this run. I'm fairly experienced. Since we have a lot of newer players i will make sure I bring all my extra equipment tokens so we have a decent chance of making it through with everyone alive.

I'm doing part one Thursday morning.

Also, my rogue build is among my strongest build (a few ultra rares, most of the rest is rares). Does anyone have a problem with me playing the rogue for our run?

I can also answer any new questions if Donovan can't.

Fine with my group for you to run rogue Richard. In my 4 runs I have run barbarian or druid. But my groups flexable.

Great to see we're touching base before hand!

My group is new to TD as well and very flexible in regards to what we play. We are also doing part 1 on Thursday.

Do you have any suggestions on things we may need to prepare for this. I assume we sort everything out when we arrive.

Thanks.

So basically you show up a little early as it suggests. Once there you check in, recieve your tokens and are escorted to a room with a table and the character sheets and an oversized character.

You choose your character class and assign tokens to your character. Once thats done your groups escorted to memorize you spell componets and practice the shuffle board.. then the fun begins

They used to say be there 30 minutes prior to the event. But I saw something now that saus 15 minutes. I also havent played since 2014 so they might have changed something. Maybe Richard knows if its the same.

If you can be there 30 minutes early, it's to your advantage to do so.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .
If I write something in teal, it should not be taken seriously

Yeah 30 minutes before hand is ideal to maximize the time for building/reading/etc

Sounds good, we'll be sure to get there early.

In regards to character classes, is that something we should decide on now? Is it worthwhile to get some tokens before hand?

I'm not in this run but working together to choose classes beforehand can definitely go a long ways toward smoothing the process in coaching room before you enter the dungeon. You can see the list of character classes available here truedungeon.com/resources/item/49-character-class-cards

As for tokens, True Dungeon is designed that a group of 10 new players can be successful with just the starting pack of 10 tokens they each receive with a little bit of help and trading from the rest of your party. So tokens are not required beforehand unless you are so inclined. If you do decide to purchases beforehand there are many people on the forums with that would be able to sell you specific tokens that would benefit the class you end up selecting and increase your odds of success at the combats or you can purchases additional packs online or at gencon outside the dungeons.

It would probably be a pain to get my group to pick classes right now. My groups not very decisive at time.

My suggestion is if anyones good with memorization they should be a spelling casting class. Im willing to play the druid if people didnt mind as I have done that before and enjoyed it.
