TOPIC: Packing tokens for transmute

Packing tokens for transmute 5 years 2 months ago #1

I have a question for the "unit" transmutes (e.g., mystic silk):

Say I have 25 rares (each being six units). What would be the best, easiest way for the transmute team? Should I:
1) have 6 snack bags of 4 tokens each, put those in a sandwich bag, and have the 25th rare floating around the sandwich bag?
2) pack all 25 in one bag and label it (somehow) that it's worth 6 MS?

Per the FAQs, you should do 1), except *also* have the 25th rare in a 7th bag.

Let's say I have the following to trade in for several Philosopher's Stones:

12 Rare Rings, etc (12 X 6 pts = 72pts)
1 Uncommon Ring (3pts)
Total 75, or 3 Stones

How should these tokens be bagged as it's not an easy division of tokens for each into 25 pts?

Answer: Please try to avoid this situation if possible. If you cannot, in the above example please place 24 pts of tokens seperately in 3 bags, and then place the left-over 3 pts token in a seperate non-labeled bag. Then, take all four bags and place them together in a larger ziplock bag. This is how we will know that this special case has occurred.

I have routinely put 25 of the same rarity in one bag labeling it ALL RARE or ALL UNCOMMON with a x3 or x6, but only if it is exactly 25 all of the same rarity. I have done this for both tokens I send in via mail and turned in a conventions that allow it. I haven't yet had anyone tell me not to (that might happen after I post this). :D

The example Allen John cited from the FAQ is perfectly acceptable.

I'm also okay with making one bag of 25 rares if, and ONLY if, you very clearly label that bag, "6x Mystic Silk (25 rares)" or "3x Mystic Silk (25 uncommons)". Do not do this if you have mixed rarities in the bag or with any quantity of tokens other than 25.

For the tragically pedantic, obviously, you need to alter the example to fit the thing you're exchanging. If you're sending in 25 rare jewelry items, label it "6x Philosopher Stone (25 rares)" not "6x Mystic Silk (25 rares)". Capisce?

It seems I didn't define what very clearly label that bag, "6x Mystic Silk (25 rares)" or "3x Mystic Silk (25 uncommons)" means, so I shall attempt rectify that now.

For this example, let's say you're submitting a single bag of 25 Rare jewelry tokens, thus ordering 6 Philosopher's Stone tokens. You need to take 1 (ONE) of the six Philosopher's Stone labels and manually write "x6" on it. Place that single Philosopher's Stone slip, the one you manually wrote "x6" on, and place it in the bag--text side facing out so it can be easily read--of 25 Rare jewelry tokens. Please do not put multiple slips in a bag. When they're all smushed together, it's nearly impossible to tell how many slips are in a stack. That's why I'm asking folks to place a single slip in the bag.

Furthermore, I guess I wasn't clear before when I wrote Do not do this if you have mixed rarities in the bag or with any quantity of tokens other than 25, but it's not cool to put any quantity of tokens other than 25 in a bag if you're doing this x3 or x6 variation. This means, for example, you should not put 23 Uncommons and 1 Rare. If you don't have exactly 25 Rares or exactly 25 Uncommons, please use the standard bagging method of one trade token per bag.

Was I ambiguous about any of this? If you have a question, I'll be happy to answer it in this thread or via PM if you'd prefer.

Thank You

This is unambiguous.

Would it be ok to put 6 slips of mystic silk or philosophers stone into a bag of they aren't cut apart?

Thank You

for new people I know transmuting seems weird. if you are at a con, stop by the transmute area(if it is at that con) we can help try to make it clearer on all transmutes. Even show some examples. I was new once, I messed up too. I had a great person walk me threw it and show me how to do it.

LOL I've been sending these in for 6 years and learned something new. 25 uncommon and 25 rare bundles will make things a lot easier.

Perfectly reasonable question, but one slip per bag is best because it doesn't interfere with speed-counting.
