IMO if it isn't on the party card it isn't real. Activated effects are nice if you have room but they are always a gamble, these might be magic spiders after all, +saves is just +saves so IMO spindle as much as it paints me.

That is so true. My group wore Shirts of Shielding for years, and they were never effective for us. Every time we attacked a monster and took damage in return, we were told that it wasn't "really" retribution damage, so it didn't count. :)
