TOPIC: Requirements for True Grind?

How powerful does a character need to be in order to do his/her fair share in True Grind?

I ask because the True Dungeon Facebook feed has announced that Origins will have a True Grind adventure (Loki's Labyrinth) and I'm wondering if my wife's and my characters are now strong enough to give it a try. We're roughly at the Endgame 2024 Build Thread's "UR + Relic" level, and barring rolling 1's on our next three treasure pulls I'll have transmuted an Ashenne's by then.

And if we *are* strong enough -- what sort of changes to our standard builds should we make to optimize for True Grind, other than replacing our Treasure Enhancers?

If history repeats itself, Grind will have difficulty levels just like the main runs. If you have a UR/Relic build, you could handle the same level you're comfortable with in the main run. One of the key differences in Grind is the speed of the game; be familiar with your build. Before GHC last year, Picc and crew released some special rules that pointed to a way to modify your build. I suggest waiting to see if the same occurs.

Grind typically does not offer XP.

I'm not sure why it started or how far it goes back, but I don't recall ever getting XP from True Grind. You can see the same type of message from the last True Grind at Gamehole Con here:

Grind sells out waaay too fast as it is.
If Grind awarded XP, then (a) it would sell out even faster, as people who want to play it for the XP - not just the challenge - grabbed all the tickets, and (b) people who couldn't get into Grind would be extra mad because now they're missing out on the XP.

Speaking as a Grind DM, I really wish we had a way to offer more Grind runs, because I'd love to see people have more access to the event. Until we do, there's no way I'd recommend giving XP for what is already an unintentionally exclusive event.

I'm not sure Grind can sell out any faster. But yeah, if you offered xp, there would be many more people upset if they couldn't get a ticket.
