That smell is nitroglycerin which vaporizes and breaks down readily.

I wonder what kinda fish you could catch with dynamite. Would it ever be cost effective? How much is dynamite per pound anyway? Or do you buy it by the stick? How much is it per stick?

You can catch any fish with dynamite. If it's a lake or small pond and you need it as a long term source, it may not work out since the shock may kill all of the fish at once. Dynamite is just a bit too destructive for fishing

I guess m80's in a fishtank might work just as well but it sort of takes the thrill out of it.

I was in a survival class once and they said Indians used to grind up some kind of nut shell (I think walnuts--maybe filberts) and spread the powder on the calm water surface. The nut residue temporarily paralyzes the fish and they float up to the top. Serves the purpose and is less destructive to all the rest of the fish in the pond, but for sure not as spectacular. Of course he is the guy who carried a razor blade with him in his possibles bag to put on a salt lick so he could follow the blood and track down his venison dinner. On my survival days week long walkabout I shared with him field mouse stew with stinging nettles and cattails. Yum. I never did go on the month long trek--I wish I had.

Yeck. I think that's sorta twisted even for me. But then again, the first thing I flashed on was the idea of someone hunting children by putting razorblades in lollypops.
I've always been a fan of clock springs embedded in a thick steak to get rid of the aggravating barking dog next door, ever since I read Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut, and of course, antifreeze tastes really sweet to the neighbor's irritating pets.

Anti-freeze is a great murder weapon in most cases. Well, as long as people don't suspect foul play and get labwork done. You'd think they'd add something to it to make it taste bitter or strange, but I guess not enough people drink it by accident each year to warrant it.
