TOPIC: Hoody Hoo for the Patriots!

Re: Hoody Hoo for the Patriots! 17 years 3 months ago #49

I thought the guy that asked the questions was pretty lame - you could see he was uncomfortable asking the coach questions...and then when what he asked got lame answers they just dropped it...

Too funny - I would opt out of any such things in the future if I were the coach...or the reporter for that matter...

Bill's never been a good media guy - certainly proved that this year. Certainly couldn't have been a comfortable interview.

IMHO, the coach's have to congratulate each other, as do the QB's - anything else is gravy. I have no problem with him not shaking Peyton's hand if that's the way it went.

go bears, or, whatever....

Doug, I grew up in South Hadley, but spent tons of time in Amherst and Northampton. Go have a smoosh-in at Herrell's for me!

Brian
The NFL would probably fine a coach that refused to talk to the media.

Kim

True. And please ignore the place in my earlier post where I wrote "coach's" instead of "coaches." Yeesh - must have been watching TV when I wrote that!

Brian
I guess then if fines for not talking to the media (at really dumb times) is the case - I guess I would go Parcells or Bilichick on them too! Good job - who knew these guys were making a statement against the media. ;/

I think though that there's an expectation that the losing coach is going to give a brief interview after the game and coaches have to be prepared for that.

Kim

Had Tony Dungy lost that game, he would have had the class to congratulate the Patriots and be a good representative of the Colts organization. Bilichick has OWNED Manning and the Colts for so long. He should have had some class and been gracious the one time he lost to them in the playoffs.

Sorry...his rebuff of Manning after the game just hit me the wrong way.

BTW...go Bears!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=iHvZ_Z0OgxA
Kind of like his shoving aside of the cameraman while going to give the other coach an arctic hug in an earlier game rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He doesn't seem to be a gracious winner OR loser.

The Colts have a lot of class throughout the organization, and the Bears appear to be that way also (I haven't followed the Bears all that closely, other than having the quarterback come from my hometown).

Go Colts!!!

Don't get me wrong - being a good sport is one thing (always a good thing)...but having to deal with the media asking dumb questions in a bad situation is another...

I guess I just frown upon all the negative press that gets focused upon because a good % of people like to see the darker side of things...and talk about the negative HYPE stuff.

Obviously I'm not a big fan of TO and his press idolized behavior.

G

There are only so many questions that you can ask a coach in that situation. I don't remember Solomon Wilcots asking him anything that would be out of the norm or asking it in anything but a professional manner. Bilichick was a poor representative of the Patriots in that moment.

Kim
