Yep. They said they would be there originally which provided a dilemma. When they postponed, it was a bit of a relief. Sort of.

To me traveling to the midwest is safer despite Indiana University folks fighting any restrictions.

Yeah, I live in Texas, but I've been maintaining isolation pretty well and see no reason to break that habit yet.

Same here. We found out quickly that going INTO lockdown was very easy. Coming out is VERY hard. We are totally not ready to be out in any sort of crowd. We see the packed restaurants, or lines, all the people jammed on the ferry boats and just say "Too soon".
GenCon and TD's announced presence there made a huge dilemma. I can't imagine missing TD, but any sort of crowd is just too much. I thought I could get used to the idea of just being around ten folks in the coaching room.
So, we are happy with our curbside take out, online ordering and Friday-Saturday DVD movie nights for now.

Other than the game conventions, I don't miss any of it.

True Dungeon's announced presence at GENCON?

They had, I committed to going and then they changed it a couple of days later. I was still planning to go because of the commitments I made to some people and the fact that things look to be leveling off, but the spike over the last three weeks has seen me reverse that decision.

I was planning on attending this year, but we are currently seeing higher case numbers and deaths right now than at this time last year. I am hoping those numbers level off or drop in the next few weeks.

From a State of Indiana perspective, the cases are higher than they were a year ago, but the deaths are comparable - maybe a touch lower. County by County can vary of course.

Because those who are vaccinated can still be a case, but are VERY, VERY, VERY unlikely to be a death.

Also, deaths tend to lag behind cases.

Big issue for me is not necessarily my own health as I have been vaccinated and know that the overwhelming number of breakthrough cases are very minor. It is for my kiddo that doesn’t have that option.

Wish there was a way to get the participation items and experience for those that don’t feel safe attending in person as of yet.

I am using the stats for the country because people travel from all over to Gen Con. Looking at just the numbers here in Indy is misleading when we will be around people from all parts of the US.

Very true. This time last year, we were on the backside of the second wave, so numbers were trending down, but we are now on the front side of the fourth wave, which may not peak before Gen Con.

With all these mana dates and places and events requiring vaccination I do want to get it. But my mom says no cause one of her doctors says there is a chemical in the vaccine that is harmful to your body and changes it dna, people with the vaccine are still getting the virus and every few months there is a possibility of another booster shot.

I wont comment on anything else but both the CDC and the mayo clinic say the vaccine doesn't alter DNA

MayoClinic wrote: According to the CDC, mRNA vaccines work by instructing cells in the body how to make a protein that triggers an immune response. Injecting mRNA into your body will not interact or do anything to the DNA of your cells. Human cells break down and get rid of the mRNA soon after they have finished using the instructions.

Vaccinated people have gotten the virus, yes, but in very small numbers. More importantly, the number of vaccinated people with seriosu symptoms requring hospitalization has been miniscule.

It is very possible we may bneed a booster shot. Hardly the first vaccine to require that. Makes sense when so many unvaxxed people allow the virus to spread and mutate.

If your mother's doctor said that, the doctor is lying or is ignorant.

As others have noted, the vaccines do not change your DNA. Claims to the contrary are misinformation, or outright disinformation.

While there have been some breakthrough infections among the vaccinated, they tend to be more mild than infections in the unvaccinated, and such breakthrough infections are more common among the elderly and immunocompromised. Vaccinated people are simply much less likely to be hospitalized, intubated, or die. (See attached illustrative snapshot.) The vaccines aren’t perfect, but they dramatically increase the chance of survival.

Approximately 96% of practicing physicians are vaccinated .
