Either way. Congrats on getting it!

I can't even look at pictures of people getting shots on news articles.

Thanks for sharing that! I'd seen a poll that a small but not insignificant number of vaccine hesitant people said they'd get the shot if it was offered in their doctor's offices, and I had no idea why that would change anything. I've got 0 problem with needles, and it had never even occurred to me that people might have a lot of anxiety about getting the shot because of the needle specifically and being in their doctor's office would make them feel more comfortable.

And thank you for pushing through that phobia and getting vaxxed! Every additional person makes us all safer.

So glad you were able to find that comfort zone. Thank you.
While not at the same level, I can relate somewhat to a fear of needles. I always have to look away whenever anyone is getting a shot on TV or in a movie. As a teenager, I remember nearly passing out when they took some blood from me in the doctor's office. That always stuck with me. I've tried donating blood twice and each time they take my pulse and blood pressure they tell me to go lie down, that they won't be taking any. It's kind of embarrassing, so I don't even try anymore. But I did get vaccinated. I just closed my eyes and looked away. Honestly, I don't feel it that much, but for some reason I just can't watch. Major relief once its over.

Exactly.
I was ready intellectually by the end of May. All my friends and most of the folks at work were all done. My doctor said to get it. My wife's doctor told her to get it. Some of her co-workers sowed some doubt in her mind, but she said when I got it, she would too. Of course I had to promise her to do the same when she gets eligible for the Shingles dose (which I have been also avoiding)
I know the phlebotomist at my doctors office is very good. But that doesn't bring my blood pressure down, or keep the panic attack away.
In fact, while I am typing this, I am waiting for an afternoon dentist appt to get a filling fixed. I am doing all I can to keep it together. Just knowing novocaine is coming.

Good luck with the dentist! I’m one of the very few patients at my dentist’s office that doesn’t do novocaine. Don’t like the needle nor the numbness after.

Yikes! Your pain threshold must be far higher than mine! I've gotten a second shot during a dental procedure before when the first started wearing off too soon. :)

My dentists knows to give me a second shot at the start of my procedures. One doesn’t do the trick!

I've needed a second shot a couple of times.

FYI - Another convention I frequent, C2E2 in Chicago, announced today that full vaccination or proof of negative covid test will be required for entry to their December con.

Be prepared. Dane County (site of GHC) has issued an emergency mask mandate. I'll wait for an announcement, but its possible that proof of vaccine and a mask may be required to attend.

Last night, I started the work to cancel this year's trip to GenCon. Things have just deteriorated to the point where I no longer felt remotely safe with the idea.

Texas is still wide open. Governor against vaccine, mask and contact tracing for school cases.

To me traveling to the midwest is safer despite Indiana University folks fighting any restrictions.

The governor is positive. Going to be interesting to see if it goes south.

But the governor's mansion is still open to visitors with no mask, no vaccine and just a simple temperature check.
