Wow! I am impressed by the many things that make the TD community unique. This is a very accomplished group of adventurers. So on with my humble attempt at uniqueness . . .

My dad had 4 and a half dozen kids. In other words, he had four boys and a half dozen girls. I was number five. Since I had four older sisters, the hand me downs were tough. We grew up on a farm in Iowa. We played many traditional family games. However, I learned to play Pinochle at age five (my dad taught all of us). We had one black and white TV and could get three channels.

My son was getting into card and miniature games growing up in the 90's so I decided that I should find out what he was getting into. We both started playing MtG and collecting. We also started playing HeroClix. Spud Lunsford convinced me to go to GenCon. My son and I went and spent most of that first GenCon in the WhizKids HeroClix events. I played TD at GenCon 2018 and that was my introduction into D&D.

As far as uniqueness. I worked for the same school system for 43 years as a teacher and then an administrator. I was the administrator in charge of an Alternative School for 23 years before retiring. I did get a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Iowa Association of Alternative Schools (awarded to one nominee a year).

My uncle once told me and the family at a family reunion (about 1959-60) "I can tell you that we know how to get to the moon, we just don't know how to land yet." He usually could not tell us what he was working on since he worked for NASA or its equivalent at the time.

What makes me unique... I've probably backed more failed Kickstarters than most people have backed successful Kickstarters.

What about successful but unfulfilled kickstarters? I've got a fair amount of those sadly.

I've got at least two of those - a game and a D&D documentary.

Interesting, I wasn't aware you had used a third recipe.

I know of your two artifacts but no knowledge of the third recipe and what became of it.

the 3rd recipe was used to give something back to the TD community. i turned it in to jeff and said i wanted everyone to benefit. i really didn't care what it was and left that up to him, as long as folks got to get a perk/pep/extra something. that was the year of the treasure box being "loaded" up,

Thank you so much for sharing with the rest of us Smak!

And I'm glad to no longer feel like I need to treat that as secret information :)

It was one of those secret that feels like a bunch of people know but not everyone so I always felt kind of odd about it...lol. "Can I mention it to you because you already know or do I need to keep it hush?"

I definitely didn't know before this thread!

Why is the box named what it was then?

I knew that had happened (sadly a year before I was heavy into the game) but I didn't know it was you who had done it.

Very cool of you to do. I applaud the generosity.

I would hazard a guess that I am the only person to run an 8k auction who has never actually experienced TD in person. But not 100% sure on that one.
