Clearly the token should be a "Harl-Axe" B)

Which is of course a throwable-returning 2-handed greataxe (Fighter only)

John would hate this token as it would be "Just another thing the coaches have to deal with."

Hand of Harlax, (rare, slotless): All players get +1 HP. Give this token to a random player in coaching. 1x effect/run.

John will be missed.

Why woyld coaches have to deal with HP?

They have been recording them lately in VTD. But mostly I was referring to the giving it to a random player part and questions about the token.

Interesting I don't I have had a coach (or DM) in VTD record my HP, yet.

Plus it is something John would have pointed out -- he always had the coaches covered.

They asked us to do it at the last physical gen con, the stated goal was to get an idea on the player bases average hit points.

My condolence to John and his family, some sad news. I got the opportunity to meet John while volunteering, he was friendly with everyone and everything he did.

I haven't posted because honestly, I just have no words that can express what a gut punch this news was.

John was the kind of volunteer that when his name was spotted on the application list for a convention it was an easy "YES"!!! I knew John would be there, do whatever he could to help, and ALWAYS put the players enjoyment of the game as his main goal. He was the kind of person you could just count on...always. And, frankly, I'm not sure I EVER saw him in a bad mood.

When he initially told me he had been diagnosed with cancer (over 9 years ago), he wanted to volunteer so badly. He knew he'd be tired, but wanted to help out. He didn't want to be "exempt" from anything, but wanted to work with me to have jobs that he could sit down to do when he got tired. I was so happy (as I'm sure anyone who knew him was) when he beat cancer. It's funny to think about it now, because if anyone could beat cancer, of course it would be John. I can't imagine something so vile and nasty being able to stay in someone so kind and nice.

Thankfully John came to Carbondale and was trained with Andrew as a VTD volunteer. He set up his workstation in my work area that weekend, so we were basically in the same room, but 6+ feet apart all weekend. He was so proud of his son, Matthew. He received many compliments on his computer, to which he'd proudly explain that Matthew had custom built it for him. He spoke fondly of his wife and son. I've never met them, but I could tell John cared about them deeply.

As was always the case, when I needed someone to cover for another vol, John eagerly stepped up. Again, just the kind of person you can count on...always. John covered for a few hours on that Friday and became ill during that time. Me, being me, went into total "Mom" mode, even to someone older than me! The only reason I relented and quit hounding him was because he assured me that his wife, a nurse, was watching him closely and if he was feeling worse she would take him to the hospital. John continued to text me updates, and on 1/20 he told me than his cancer was back.

There was NO thought in my mind then that three weeks later, John would be gone. He sent me a message on 2/5 and I should've known then that things were bad, but I think I just didn't want to believe it. Honestly, I still don't.

John was a great man. True Dungeon was lucky to be one of the things that he chose to spend some of his time on.

We can all take note for our own lives from John - do things you enjoy - spend time with people you care about and have fun - be dependable - be a good person. He was that and so much more and he will be missed.

We plan to have a small tribute to John in the Coaching room of this weekend's VTD event. I thought I'd warn someone of you so it would not be a surprise.

This once agains shows the community, support and in this instance, compassion of this group and organization. Thanks for the heads up, Jeff.

Love the idea of a two-handed fighter weapon tribute.
