Is he? From where he stands Wanda is a terrorist who has taken over a small city and enslaved all its people. Now we know this is likely not to be true, but I don't know that I would label him a bad guy. Short sighted, sure. Quick to choose to act before understanding the full picture, okay. Getting in the way of our heroes JMonica, Jimmy and Darcy, ohhh you bet. Bad guy? Hmmm I am not convinced.

I'm ready to put Hayward in the bad guy camp. When Wanda came for Vision's corpse, anyone else catch that SWORD had dismembered him? Not exactly a good way to treat a dead hero. Probably even contributed to Wanda's pain/anger.

They were going to fix him and make him a weapon. It’s a government agency.

Yeah, the dismembering seemed a bit much, but I guess I can see how scientists would want to study him. It's also sort of the same as doing an autopsy. Still, more respect for someone who just helped save the world seemed to be in order. And yeah, I doubt that helped with Wanda's mindframe.

Don't get me wrong I think, to quote Darcy, "The guy's a dick." Though I don't claim to be a dick I do proudly claim to be an ass, but I am not a bad guy...lol.

This thread inspired me to watch Wanda vision, and it was AWESOME!

I noticed in the last episode they said, like 5 times, you can’t control kids. They made a big enough deal of it that I assume it’s coming back later, but I don’t know enough about the marvel universe to know if it’s something larger than the series.

Edit,

Has anyone identified the inspiration of each episode? Episode 2 was easily inspired by I dream of Jeannie and Bewitched. Was 1 I love Lucy, 3 The Brady Bunch and 5 Family Ties? They were all so familiar, but I couldn’t place any of them but 2.

I have not read the other posts...but I just wanted to chime in with my fan theory.

I don't think the Wanda we saw outside the Hex is actually Wanda -- so she is not the villain they are trying to make her out to be. The big twist is that she is being influenced by Mephisto or some mega-villain AND the Wanda outside the Hex was actually this mega-villain (or Agatha).

It's a great show. And Episode 5 was themed around "Family Ties."

So, what are the theories behind why this alternate reality if playing out like old sitcoms? And why does it keep progressing through the decades? It's fun to watch and I think very creative, but in the scheme of the larger story...why? I mean, were old sitcoms that popular in Sokovia while Wanda was growing up? Does this give us any clue as to whose behind this?

I think the main inspiration of 1 was the Dick Van Dyke show (who was also a consultant on the show), 3 was Brady Bunch, and 5 Family Ties (with I think some Full House mixed in). I'm hoping for a Married with Children inspired show. :)

One theory is Wanda grew up on TV, like a lot of us did. So her 'perfect' life is based off TV. There are a few common things in many of the episodes if not all of them. There is an for TV's (usually on the back of the newpaper). There are a lot of references to time, it is possible that every character is where a wristwatch, and clocks in the background (not a big thing). And children....or the lack of children one might say. There are no children in Westview.....but the entire 2nd episode was "For the Children."

So whomever is manipulating Wanda is doing it to get her children, imo. To get her to create them in the first place.

As far as why it advances through the decades. Sitcoms got more complex through the decades. The story is getting more complex.

If this were a True Dungeon adventure--we'd be paying close attention to the fact that Hayward is an anagram of "Aw, Hydra..." ;)

Wanda clearly can't control the children, she wasn't able to make them go to sleep and couldn't understand why she couldn't. That seems to make it clear someone/something else is pulling some strings.

Wanda's magic also had no effect on the stork. It does seem like an outside force is interested in the children - "for the children!"
