Actually it springs from token development.
If there are 12 Classes then Human Fighter and Dwarf Fighter should get their own Legendaries eventually. If there are only 10 then there should just be a Fighter Legendary. So related to tokens..... Also both of us being pig-headed like we are.
I told Ed:
"I think it is probably one of those things that Jeff goes back and forth on because it doesn't matter to him.
If you asked him if both wizards were the same class or diffrent he would say same. But if you asked how many classes are there he would say 12....lol."
So, to the actual point of the question regarding the class relic/legendaries and if dwarf and elf get distinct items from the other fighter and elf...
I am gonna say no, only 10 class legendaries get made this first time around.
The only reason to make 2 different sets for wizard and fighter is if you have the items focus on those differences. Meaning, you arent going to make a legendary for the dwarf fighter and EXCLUDE human fighter unless that legendary plays off taunt and/or crit x3.
Problems making those two different items:
1. You lock those classes in to current design. TD is about to do a character card redesign...while i know people would be sad to lose taunt and point at the uncommon dwarf fighter lenses as a reason to keep it, if the legendary keyed off taunt it could NEVER go away.
2. The two fighter and two wizards would become completely different classes at the high end of token builds while non-relic builds still treat them as only slightly different. Maybe not a big problem, but would be very strange...imagine a world where low-level monks and rangers could equip the same stuff and the only difference was the method of double sliding; but then high level rangers were all ranged focus with bows while monks continue to double slide.
3. If there are different items for dwarf and elf vs human, TD would need to release bother fighter items the same year and both wizard items the same year. If you only release one without the other, there will be a definite skew toward that version of the fighter/wizard.
If you are really hoping for something to emphasize the differences of these class variants, i expect the best you can hope for is a generic extra use or double effect of the unspecified specialty ability (ie with current cards: dwarf gets 2nd taunt and human fighter gets 2nd reslide (both using same token), and human wiz gets +4 wand damage and elf wiz gets +4 to-hit poly (again, with same token))...of course, my thought is that would just be a minor bonus on to of the main ability...but we have a couple years before we get there.
