I love BSG. I also loved the show (at least the first few seasons). Awesome space combat and awesome survival plot. Anybody who hasn't seen it should at least watch the 2-part miniseries that starts the show

I'm nowhere the Board/Card Game maven that a lot of you are, but two of my favorite games of late are Betrayal at House on the Hill (which has a new expansion coming out this fall, yay!) and Room Party.

The latter one it seems very few people have heard of, which is kinda sad to me. It's a fun game

I like strategy but also enjoy some randomness. I've played too many euro games against people who have spent way more time than me studying strategies online and they just follow their predetermined strategy and win. Not much fun for me. A game like Arkham Horror, for example, reminds me of the saying: No battle plan survives contact with the enemy. You prepare strategically and then react tactically to whatever is thrown out at you.

I enjoy randomness in games. It's one of the reasons I've loved playing Magic the Gathering for all these years.

I like most types of board games, though I'm generally not a fan of most hidden role games. I also tend to prefer heavier games, though there are light games that I really enjoy as well. BGG Profile .

My absolute favorite is playing as a Cylon Leader, with their own agendas!

I'm generally not a fan of party games, but I will make an exception for Code Names (shout out to the Broasted who introduced me to it!).

And I generally prefer complex games over simple games, but there is a certain charm to the simplicity of Ticket to Ride....

We rarely have time to game anymore, but some of our long-time favorites are Titan, Ogre, GURPS, Judge Dredd, Nuclear War, Talisman, Heroscape, Star Fleet Battles, and Car Wars. I'm sure I'm leaving out a bunch!

I mainly play computer games with one friend in DC, we play a few times a year. We've only really played two games over the last 20+ years - Empire and Total Annihilation.

My overall fave game is 7 Wonders. Doesn't hit the table enough for me.

Anybody play any good games at GenCon this year (besides TD of course)? My favorite was probably Too Many Bones. It is a game I kickstarted but haven't played; basically a dice mini RPG. It was fun.

I also enjoyed Star Wars Destiny much more than I expected.

I didn't get to play anything, but I tried a handful of games and brought a bunch of them - had to buy a cargo bag for the plane

Huh, now that sounds like a really good game that I could add to my 'always want to play but no one will play with me list.'. I just figured with all the hype that it wasn't actually that deep. I will have to check it out at IndyCon.

Surprisingly, not really. I only played about 10 different games, and left most of them feeling "meh", even the ones I'd played (and loved) before. For example, I love Dominion to death, but the one play of Empires I got in the Rio Grande room was miserable - the cards were very complex, there was virtually no card draw to smooth things out, there was too much to keep track of, the person who sat down and invited me into the game left us halfway through, and it went almost an hour! Longest game of Dominion I ever played (although a lot of that comes down to not removing the extra Provinces when we went from 3 players to 2).

Mystic Vale does seem like it will be a great game once the other half of it comes out later this year, though.

I absolutely love Agricola and Power Grid.
