No one in our league picked Carolina, although 1.62% overall picked them. They were the 10th most popular pick overall.

The better team was Denver. They beat the Panthers in the Super Bowl earlier this year and they beat them again last night. Cam Newton is just an over-rated showboat who will self-destruct this year after being proven so by the other teams they face.

He'd have looked a lot better if he didn't get illegally drilled in the head multiple times.

Also, it's funny how different that reputation would have been had Gano made the field goal at the end, despite that being completely out of both Cam's and the Broncos' control.

It’s best in Week 1 to pick an established team with a strong track record, preferably a home team. In other words, don’t do anything stupid. Of course, the NFL is always difficult to predict. Perhaps you recall last year’s Week 2 survivor pool mass extinction, when each of the most popular six selections flopped, leaving behind a wasteland of confusion, despair and survivor’s guilt.

That would be quite disastrous if that were to repeat. Anyway, check it out if you have a few minutes before the token proofs drop.

I couldn't believe an intentional grounding call nullified a personal foul like attempted murder (the Bronco that launched himself into a helmet-to-helmet "tackle").

Watch the replay again. The defender was already in the air when Cam lowered his head to absorb the hit. The helmet-to-helmet was unintentional and incidental.
