Congrats Jeff and DF : Kickstarter funded 11 years 4 weeks ago #1

Congratulation to Jeff and Dwaven Forge.

I just noticed they have crossed the $50K level on their kickstarter for the new dungeon tiles (in under 4 hours).

Good luck on reaching the stretch goals.

You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

They just passed the first stretch goal of $75,000 (in under 6 hours), so there are more goodies for folks that back them for $120.00 or more.

You now get 18 wall sections instead of 14 for each set.

The $100,000 goal, currently being worked on, increase the number of floor units from 12 per set to 15.

They look fantastic, Jeff, Congrats!

I'm thinking of getting a set myself for role-playing. How much does one set weigh? I'd probably spend the extra to get it pre-painted.

How does everyone plan on treating the half-spaces next to the walls? Will you crowd the figures into those spaces, or treat them like wall spaces and say characters can't move onto them?

Those are super cool and the project is funding super quick. Totally going to get in on this (as soon as I clear it with the wife)

I'm in, too!
I've picked up a lot of Dwarven Forge sets over the years, but my buying dropped off recently due to the difficulty financing my D.F. habit in addition to my token habit (not to mention shipping to Canada!). The idea of low-cost Dungeon terrain is *very* appealing to me, and I hope to see more pieces done this way in the future.

I have seen DF's stuff at GenCon but haven't played with or bought any. How are these different?

Been using the original stuff for many years now.
First off the half square is what it is, you'll get use to it. I just push the mini in there and call it good.

I could be wrong but these look and probably play damn near same except they are much more durable. The older sets didn't always line up properly but these look to line up perfectly.

I'm guessing this is just like Reaper running their line in plastic instead of metal. This would be a switch from plaster resin to some hardened plastic.

YupImJen wrote: How are these different?

Traditional Dwarven Forge pieces are made from "polystone", a stiff resin-based material. The material used to make the new "Game Tiles" are made from a

PVC-type material that is incredibly durable and holds paint well. It feels somewhat like the rugged material used to make rubber mallets

Thus the new pieces are a lot more durable and less expensive to produce.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
