TOPIC: Training for the LA Marathon

Forced by circumstances to take a rest day yesterday, but tonight I will be running with one of the Team in Training mentors.  We'll likely do 40-50 minutes at an easy pace.  And we'll run along the beach path into Venice b/c it's well-lit - one advantage to training in SoCal!<br /><br />I was in a fundrasing dry spell for a while, but some has started to come in - I am about to break $1000!  I have been surprised by people's generosity, and by how many people have been affected by blood cancers.  Please consider donating to my website to help me fight leukemia and lymphoma.  If you prefer to donate via check, PM me, and I will give you my address.<br /><br />Thanks as well for the positive wishes and support - it really means alot to me!<br />

An easy 50 minutes of running tonight with three teammates - we ran along the beach path into Venice - kind of an unsettling place to run after dark!  Several places we could detect the aroma of cannabis - medicinal, I'm sure! ;/<br />

So another run tonight, and it was a tough one.  Right after school because we have parent-teacher conferences.  Hard to get in the mood because the day ends badly (period 6), and then the conferences are not fun, I don't get home until late, I have to drive in the dark, and I'm missing the football game (go, whoever is playing Miami!).  And would I like some cheese with my whine?<br /><br />Anyway, I ran 5 miles - 1 to warm up, and one to cool down.  The three in the middle I alternated 2 min at a hard pace with 2 minutes at an easy pace.  Whew!<br /><br />Many thanks to my second forum donor!  Thank you so much!  I really appreciate it!<br /><br />Brian<br />

Ran 80 minutes today, and could have done more, since it was a nice easy pace, but don't want to go too far too soon.  Likely was about 8 miles.  Tomorrow's Team in Training practice will be 5 miles at a faster pace.  Also trying to improve my running form.<br /><br />Went to Ross today to get some more clothes - I have a whole closet full of clothes that don't fit anymore!  Going to have a huge pile to donate to Goodwill within a few days!

Ran 5 miles with Team in Training today, and we definitely ran at a quick pace, probably under 8:30.  Good workout for the Santa Monica Gobble Wobble this coming Saturday.  I am hoping to break the time I did at the last 5K I did - goal will be to break 26:00.<br />

Okay, everyone -  An announcement :O<br /><br />Jeff has very generously agreed to donate an ultra-rare token to help encourage donations to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society fight cancer.  As you know, I am training to run the LA Marathon with Team In Training - it will be my first! =D<br /><br />As part of my work with Team in Training, I am raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  75% of the funds raised are used for research and for families that are fighting leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers.<br /><br />I had said before that if I got a 00 bag in my order, I would have an opportunity drawing and reward one of my donors with the purp.  Well, Jeff's donation means that the uncertainty is gone! <br /><br />Now, I don't know which purp it will be - I will leave it up to Jeff to decide if it will be random, or one of his choice.  I will randomly choose one of the TD donors and send them the token - just think - you could win an UR with a donation to a great charity!  Any level of support would be really appreciated!<br /><br />Right now there are two forumites in the drawing - let's see how many more we can get!<br /><br />Thanks to Jeff, and to everyone who has expressed their support! =D<br /><br />Brian<br />
