Quick 4 mile run tonight before going to a small concert with Marian Call. I also saw her last week at Wootstock at SDCC.

You went to w00tstock? I'm so jealous!

Yeah, but I had to leave before the end of the show. They started late, and I had to leave to make sure I caught the last trolley back to my hotel. I was there for about 3:45 of show, though, and it was awesome! Double rainbow all the way!

So I am going to be running in the Disneyland Half Marathon Labor Day weekend. I am running with Team in Training again, this time as a mentor, meaning I help support a group of teammates with their training, fundraising, etc. I am raising funds for my Disney race, but this will be my last fundraising race for at least a year. After the Disney Half I plan on doing shorter races for a while - 10Ks, a 5K mud run, etc.

What does this mean? Well, I am short of my fundraising goal. The deadline is in a couple weeks (I can still accept donations after the deadline, but if I am not at my goal at that time I have to make up the difference). If you have thought about donating, I would greatly appreciate it if you could go to my website and make a donation. 75% of the funds I raise go directly to help support cancer research and to help cancer patients and their families.

To everyone who has already donated for this event, I would like to give a huge thanks. So,....

[move]THANK YOU!!! [/move]

To encourage donations, for anyone who donates at least $25, I will send you a random token from my collection. It will be either a rare, an ingredient, or a trade-in token (like dwarven steel). I will send it out in a TD token bag. The easiest way to donate is online via my website, which is in my signature. If you prefer to donate by check, PM me and I will give you my address.

Thank you to everyone for all your support and encouragement! It really means a great deal to me - I appreciate it!

Brian
I've never heard of someone having to make up the difference from a goal they set for a fund raising event. Seems like that would keep people from setting ambitious goals.

Kim

Well, you have to at least make up the difference to the minimum required. This is because they are making hotel reservations, travel arrangements, race registrations, etc., and they need to make sure they can cover their expenses. If I was, for example, $100 short of the minimum, I would have to pay the $100, then if I received a $100 donation after the event, I would be reimbursed.

Good workout today - ran to and from a local park (total = about 4 miles) that has exercise equipment, so I did the circuit (push-ups, chin-ups, crunches, stretches, etc.). Tmr is 13 miles! Hoody hoo!

Thank you for another forumite donation! I really appreciate it!

13 miles today - whew!

If anyone still is thinking of making a donation, the deadline is this coming Thursday (8/19), although as I said, I can still accept donations after that. I am about $500 short. Thanks again to everyone who has made a donation, and thanks again to everyone for your support!

Boo on Disney! They used to host an inline marathon at Disney World and the year that I was actually determined to do it was the year that they canceled the event, permanently.

Sorry to hear that, Mock! If you donate, I'll be sure to bring that up with Mickey when I see him!

Sorry, but 2.5 years of unemployment have left my treasure piles severely depleted. And I would not have made this year's GenCon if not for the generosity of friends.
