Thanks, Raven! I'm doing another road race this weekend, and I'm doing Team in Training again for the Disneyland half-marathon in the fall. And I decided to train for another mud run in September - it was alot more fun than I thought it would be!

BTW, Raven, your Orb will be on it's way very shortly, probably by the end of the week!

I've never been a dm, but I can give you one piece of advice from a players perspective, subtract damage quickly.

Kim

Agreed! 100% agreed!

I would rather have a DM who fudged the numbers by a point here or there, but did it quickly, than a DM who sloooooowly calculated the exact damage.

I mean, which is more exciting?

DM: Wow, nice hits everyone! The party harries the monster from all sides, bit of damage here, a bit there, and then a solid cleave by the fighter, for a total of 30 points of damage! The Goblin swings at the bard for (rolls) AC16, and misses. Your turn again! Go! Go! Go!

DM: Okay... lemme see.... 18 pts damage from the fighter, and then 4 from the cleric.. no wait, 6 from the cleric - I forgot the potion of bull strength - that's 24... and... um... did the Rogue's sneak attack succeed? no.... okay... so.. wizard with Burning Hands Scroll is, um... 28? Oh, and then 3 points from the Bard's sling is... (mumble) 29, 30, and 31. You guys did 31 damage. Oh, no! And time is up! You all take 4 points of push damage, for not defeating the goblin. Sorry guys.

...The important thing is to do the math in your head, so the party doesn't notice if you're out by one or two. And if you think you rounded in the Monster's favour last round, make sure you do it in the party's favour next time. Just keep combat moving!

That's why we DM's just make it all up as we go. Just kidding! =D

Did a speed/pace workout yesterday. Mile warm-up and cool-down. Did 4X100m strides, then up and down the ladder, 200 hard/easy, 300 hard/easy, 400 hard/easy, then reverse! Trying to get used to 8 min pace

Let's see - yesterday I ran about 3.5 miles at a 9:00 pace. I started and ended with crunches, push-ups, and pull-ups, and did the same after miles 1 and 2. Good workout! Will take tmr off as I get ready for Santa Monica Classic 10K on Sunday.

So let the Dance of Joy commence! My goal for today's Santa Monica Classic 10K was to break 50 minutes, which I wasn't sure I could do. The last 10K I did (not the Mud Run) was 50:23. Well, I was really happy with my results! Here's how I did:

Chip time = 48:30
Average 7:49 min/mile
I finished 271st out of 1890 runners overall, 230th out of 925 men, and 29th out of 122 in my division (Men 40-44).

Hoody hoo!
