I started off with three of my team members, but they were trying to break 4 hours, so they took off after a couple miles. Other members of my pace group that I had practiced with started far back in the corral, and then hit the wall later in the run, so I didn't see them. I was running too fast for other pace groups that were part of my team. I caught up to one teammate near the end (though she took off the last mile). While I was on my own almost all of the race, it's hard to say I ran alone - I had over 21,000 runners finish with me!
Here are some of the kewl facts I learned about my run.

22361 runners finished the marathon, 13223 men & 9138 women. The average finishing time for all finishers, including wheelchairs, was 5:25:31.

I finished 3474th overall (top 17%), 2864th among men (top 22%), and 441st in my division, men 40-44 (top 29%).

In the last 4.5 miles, I passed 406 people, and was passed by 67.

My average pace was 9:42 per mile, 6:02 per km. Average speed was 10 kph/6.2 mph.

I seem to have run two different half marathons. My average pace per mile for the first quarter of the marathon was 9:26, then 9:27 for the second. The third quarter was 9:58 per mile, and then I sped up slightly to 9:54. Mostly consistent, although I was not able to run a negative split for my mentor.

Brian

I ran again this morning, about three miles. Felt much better than when I ran Thursday! I guess I am recovering!
That's pretty awesome to be in the top 17% for your first ever marathon!

Kim

Wow.

Thanks, Brian!!

And thank you to Kim who not only updated the forum with the race information, but also sent me an email to nudging me to actually check the forums for this announcement. My life has been crazy-busy (in a good way!) lately and I haven't been on the forums as much as I'd like.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Orb of Might, and all the other fun tokens which will be filling the tokenoholics bathtubs in the next few weeks ; )

Next race will be the Down & Dirty 10K Mud Run on April 25. Hopefully I'll be recovered enough by then to make it fun!

What an active day on the forum!

Did some LSD today - no problems! Rest day tomorrow.

Yesterday I only did 3 miles, but I stopped every ten minutes and did some crunches, push-ups, and pull-ups - that was a real workout!
