Thanks, Widseth!

Smak - PM sent.

My hip appears to have been a very tight gluteus minimus or medius. Lots of ultrasound, stretches, and anti-inflammatories later, and it feels much better. I ran 12 miles on Sunday, and 6.5 last night.

This Sunday I will run 15 miles - that day the marathon will be only 3 weeks away!

Okay, so yesterday I ran 15 miles - a new record for me! Hips started out tight, but loosened up. I was definitely tired and slow, and today I am a little sore, but overall feel pretty good about it. Next week I run 18, and then I taper for a couple weeks. The marathon is less than three weeks away! Yikes!

Just caught up on this thread. Are you actually saying you're a tight ass? And that they have a cure for that? I'm going to send a few people out your way...

Okay, it is almost marathon time! Whew! We ran an easy 8 miles yesterday as we continue to taper. My biggest challenge is likely to be to make sure I get lots of sleep this week, since I am unlikely to get much the night before the race (we have to meet to get our ride to the start line at 4:45 am). Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed money and support! Thanks to Smak for donating t-shirts to forum donors, and thanks to Jeff for donating a purp for an opportunity drawing for one of the donors!

Speaking of which, I figure it is almost time to have the drawing. While I have met my goal, I am still receiving donations up to the day of the marathon. Any day is a good day to donate to fight leukemia and lymphoma, but I have to make a deadline for the drawing.

Let's say the deadline to qualify for the drawing will be Friday night at midnight (3/19, 12:00 am). I will do the drawing the Monday after the marathon, on 3/22.

Thanks again for all the good wishes!

Brian
Oh, and if anyone is interested, you can PM me your cell phone number and I can sign you up to receive text messages that will go out when I reach certain distances along the route (10K, 20K, 30K, 40K, and finish). Much easier than running with a laptop and updating my forum posts along the way! Just in case anyone is curious to see how I do!
Would someone who will be receiving text messages of Brian's progress mind posting them on the forum for those of us who do not have texting on our phones?

Kim

Lose with dignity. Or at least try to take out as many people as you can.

Dunno if I'll be able to post again before the race. Thanks to everyone for your support and good wishes. Special thanks to everyone who donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! I'll be sure to post after the race, or at least the next day, and let you know how I did. Got to go get some sleep after a big carbo-loading dinner!

brian
