TOPIC: Training for the LA Marathon

Re: Training for the LA Marathon 14 years 3 months ago #109

It can kick some serious @$$...I was laid up once for 3 weeks...and at True Realm...I literally fell with a spasm that I had no warning about, and no clue where I was going to end up.

I might be one of the lucky few who responds well to a shot in the back...but I have not had an incident since getting a cortizone shot in the spine...I've done yard work and some exercise since then and I am hopeful...

Well, I've had two PT sessions, and have been doing stretching and strengthening exercises. Also taking steroids. Leg feels much better. Hoping that I can start running again next week. Did some cross training on ellipticals and bikes this week, and walked for an hour today. Keeping fingers crossed still.
Chiro and PT went well yesterday. Will crosstrain today, then more PT tmr, and then I think I will be able to run on Thursday, just 2-3 miles to see how I am doing. Not running has been really frustrating.
Great to hear you're back to running again, Brian. Many people would give up when faced with a situation like this - it takes a strong spirit to go at it again after losing ground.

Thank you, Raven and D! I ran 5 miles yesterday, 4 the day before. I'll take today off, then run 5 or 6 tomorrow. Got PT this evening - that has been a huge help.

Speaking of tomorrow, it's my birthday! Anyone thinking of donating, that would be a totally awesome way to celebrate! Don't forget the chance to win an ultra-rare token donated by Jeff M., and if you donate at least $25, you get a free Tokenholics Anonymous 2010 t-shirt from Smak!

So I ran about 4.5 miles Tuesday, then tonight will be a track workout, probably totaling about 4 miles. Might be able to get back to double digits this weekend!

Oh, and let me report that last weekend I became a lifetime member of Weight Watchers! Hoody hoo!

Congrats on being a lifetime member! Has Jeff said if he's donating a specific token or if he's going to let the winner choose what they want?

Kim
