I was kind of thinking along the same lines. On a positive side, this cloak would give more options to build a 6 piece set. But as I'm thinking about it, I'm feeling that the Cloak of Retribution is more synergetic to someone with the DK set. I'm also ok with the Wings of Wrath.

Are we going to see a lot of undead touch attacks in 2024 and 2025 or will this basically just be +2 Cloak of Resistance 99% of the time? I think we go back to the Wings of Wrath and just let it stay that way.

Kinda agree, we have things to protect from these already. Do they need a reprint ? Or is it just something to put in there? I like the DK but it doesn’t feel like it fits with the rest.

I'm with Kusig; Wings of Wrath was something cool and different in the back slot, but this cloak is just not interesting. If I were a newbie looking for a UR cloak, I'd skip this and shop the secondary market for either a Lucky Cloak or a Butterfly Cloak instead.

IMO a more interesting Death Knight Cloak would incorporate some beneficial effect triggered by death (perhaps heal on monster's death a la tokendb.com/token/cadaver-charm/ , or heal on allies' death a la tokendb.com/token/soul-stain-armor/ , or deal damage on wearer's death a la tokendb.com/token/charm-of-the-urchin/ -- though with higher numbers for a modern-day UR)

Oooo death knight wings, upon a killing blow reset to 1HP and + 10 AC for 1 round ( self rez and makes them harder to hit giving a chance to heal )

So, the UR Death Knight Cloak gets +2 to Saves and Undead Touch Attack immunity and the UR Charm of the Ancients gets +1 to Saves and 3 h.p.? How about at least +2? Seems reasonable to me.

I kinda see death knight wings, not cloak, needs kinda like bone dragon wings and if the effect is the same, needs to have set bonus beyond the 3 piece.

Boots ( All )
Gauntlets ( All )
Chest Mail ( 10 )
Chest Armor ( 3 )

Monk & Wizard, Elf Wizard: 3 set
Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Dwarf Fighter, Paladin: 5 set
Bard, Druid, Ranger, Rouge: 4 set

This is a set that had built up over a few years ( 2021, 2022 and now 2024 ) we can add more in the future such as helm and blade making it a max 7 piece set. I think for a UR set, it’s one that many can get on the cheaper side, enjoy set effects and outside Monk and our 2 Wizards, most can enjoy this. We can put in a staff or skull “ rings “ ( not actual rings but the monk would put it on like a glove with skulls over the knuckles like brass knuckles )
It’s actually kinda exciting expanding on this set and having something that all classes can get in on

Wings of wrath could be added to the Ancients set instead. It would give more flexibility for folks to get the set bonus (the +1 level).

I think this would need a bit of a boost, undead touch effects come up very infrequently and in the Back slot this will be competing with a lot of tokens with abilities which are always useful rather than situationally useful. How about +2 to saves and +2 to STR in keeping with the rest of the Death Knight set?

I would use that.

Some other options:
What if the Death Knight Wings are sharp?

+2 STR, +5 retribution (Darkrift)
Or
+1 STR, + 1 Saves, +4 retribution (Darkrift)

For the cloak how about something like "+2 saves, ignore retribution damage" that power hasnt been available since the original shirt of shielding and has come up a lot in VTD


For an additional set power how about something like 6 death knight pieces Grant's the death knight sub type (whatever we decide to make that do, maybe retribution could apply to ranged)


Over all I live the design of the cloak since it will let non heavy armor hedgehog players access the DK sets initial retribution bonus.

Death Knight Cloak looks good.
