Jeff, might want to stay away from using the abbreviation "HH Lamps" on the token. "HH" is an abbreviation for praising a certain WWII Nazi leader. Best avoided.

What about :
-removing Bead of Guided Strike
-returning the +level bead now that the drawback is effective
-making the Deadshot bonus Guided Strike (seems like it fits the name) and DEX +1 (to make it strictly better than Guided Strike alone and help any odd DEX players balance out)?

the only level boost available in print when I got my first was the charming set, so it’s been done before.

Charming set seems similar to lucky, and there are enough lucky set items in print a 3 piece bonus could make a level. Cloak, kilt. And charm is a lot of saves though and probably doesn’t need to have +1 level tacked on.


My question is why do new players have to have a non-drawback UR level booster / non-3 UR level booster this year? TD has put out several good options for new players recently. In fact I believe my first GenCon I was thrilled to get a Fateful Ring (I believe it was the UR I got out of my first 10 pack).

That said, I agree with the sentiment that there should be a enhancement path to build a Level booster. I thought that’s what Jeff was doing with the relic. Deadshot bonus would make sense too.


When I started getting serious and wanted to start building my char I asked the forum what to do. Everyone said the same thing, get to level 5. Now you can look at the level boosters and find a drawback that dosent affect you that bad but it still sucks to give up slots when you are deciding to build a character. Especially if you are new to the forums and you watch the elite arguing over slot expanders but telling entry level players that they have to give up slots


Exactly why Ring of heroism was great, and I would like to see another similar transmute based on collecting a few years of completion tokens. It opened things up to everyone who stuck around a few years.

I changed it to any Undead. With 10 rolls of a d20, there is a 40% chance to take out the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man. That sounds about right. Just don't cross the streams.

Just gotta say that I really love the artwork on the Triton Hat. A nice whimsical contrast to a group of (hopefully) fierce warriors. Has almost a Jayne hat feel to it :D

I like the Bead of Guided Strike for obvious reasons. But as a Ranged Rogue trying to play in the higher tiers of dungeon difficulty, the only other slots it could be used in while imposing a "reasonable" penalty are eyes or hands. As I've mentioned before, putting it in belt displaces Orion's, cutting 2 Iouns and a Charm, and putting it in armor strips you of Legendary armor? That would debilitate play at higher difficulties just as much as leaving them in Bracers and doing nothing. Even moving it to hands or eyes would would have a hard impact on some Rogues with lower builds who also want to grow their build to play at harder levels. If it must be nerfed at community insistence consider eyes or gloves. Preferably eyes instead of gloves. But it has to provide some option beyond a no option. It can't be made so difficult as to not allow players to build creative, diverse characters they enjoy playing with, or so tight as to just be brick walls. There are some monsters where when the sneak attacks are used up the rogue is just left throwing toothpicks, so it is nice to be able to participate for at least the first round of battle if not two.

And I appreciate Jeff's efforts at trying to provide something people can find common ground with in such a rushed process. There are lots of great tokens lining up.

If there's worry the Guided Bead adds too much opportunity, how much more opportunity will it provide if combined with Amulet of Aiming? I don't have a use for a Hero Bead but I'm not against a Hero bead being added this year for other players. Why not release both beads? If the people who strongly object to Guided Strike being too powerful are worried about power, why not suggest swapping the Amulet that "keens" every weapon for a Hero Bead? Or, alternatively, if that's still not enough, push the Bead of Guided Strike, as is, up to relic level. There has to be some operable route for people to be able to play at the levels they want to play at. And in order to play higher, there has to be available means of access for those who want to do that.

Making it any undead seems like a fair tweak. I look forward to adding it to my collection.

I wrote earlier about why locking Guided Strike into the Deadshot set would make it just as unusable for players trying to grow their characters to higher levels. The set is great, but not everyone can equip all three of those items.
