Overly strong in game effect is highly subjective.

Most would say that the subclasses are not a huge boon, and in most cases are generally weaker.

I hope the orbs do more than just allow the subclasses, for example.

I know of some people who bought orbs on the assumption that Jeff break down on this once he saw how much people had spent on the orbs. Personally I just hope whatever they do it that they dont set off another explosion of unhappy comments in the dev threads. I also agree though that subclass use doesnt seem, well dragon-ish. IMO they should spawn some kind of "pet" just not sure for how long, how often, or what said pet should do.

P.S. full disclosure orbs are to rich for my blood.

I don't think anyone is proposing subclass access.

I mentioned I would like the effect to be scarce and special, similar to how the subclass access works. I doubt many people who will craft these are looking for more ways to access the ROSP classes.

Greater Scroll of Bless

Greater Scroll of Fireball/Lightning Bolt etc.

Things that a spellcaster could craft to give themselves a small selection of multi use scrolls

Awesome idea. +10

Sounds like a spellbook of some kind ;)

lol

I think this would actually be helpful for keeping other classes off the spell book for balance / power. You can limit bards to specific scrolls that don’t get consumed (super nice) , but don’t get converted to spells for spell bonuses. That way the bard doesn’t out heal the Cleric in both AoE Healing and targeted Healing.

It seems like faulty logic to buy orbs on the assumption that Jeff is going to do the opposite of what he said he'd do.

Greater Charm of Avarice (Or, the One Ring to Rule Them All):

Provides CoA bonuses to the entire group, and doesn't stack with any CoA/RoR/HoP/CoGF effects anyone else has. Takes 2 (or 3) Charm slots. Recipe includes 10 Charms of Avarice.

Players have the ability to refuse the effect.

That'd be one expensive token. Like (mid '00s) sports car expensive.

I agree, and I hope its a small fun effect like he said in the first place. I'm just repeating what I've head speculated but take it with a grain of salt.

I also hope it remains a small fun effect. :)

Good luck getting all relevant parties to agree what constitutes a “small fun effect” - especially among the cohort who chose not to acquire the dragon orbs based on their belief they wouldn’t be worth it.

I’m also not sure Jeff ever said “small” - he definitely said fun, and there was definitely a implication that it wasn’t about pushing the power curve, but I think “small” may be a later scribal addition.

I thought I’d save everyone the search-fu ki point expenditures, what Jeff said was:

“ The transmuted Orbs won't be these uber-powerful tokens, but they will provide some geeky fun for big TD fans. That seems appropriate for the thanked group.”

So it appears to me that claims that the transmuted dragon orb effect would be “small” or even that it shouldn’t be powerful (note: Uber powerful != powerful) are not rooted in Jeff’s statement.

Thanks, Matthew! I went to look it up, but you beat me to it.

You're right, it doesn't say small. I think people were inferring that due to the "geeky fun" comment, but it could be powerful geeky fun.

I read "The transmuted Orbs won't be these uber-powerful tokens" as a token with a smaller effect.

I read "geeky fun" as more quirky then having large effect in combat.

But recent comments in this thread go to illustrate why some people are betting on Jeff going bigger as to not disappoint.

Then again maybe that's just what I'm reading into it.

That's exactly how I read it.

And if they are printed as powerful tokens I will be extremely upset by that turn around. Just my view on them.
