Could do something like:

For every 1 hp you channel into a damage spell, gain 1 pt of damage. And, if at least 15+ hp is channeled, the spell can be cast as a Free Action instead. [1/room]

Note that channelled is a British spelling.

Or, something like:

Channel 1+ hp into a damage spell to gain equal amount of damage to spell. If 15+ hp are channeled, the spell can be cast as a Free Action instead. Channeling dmg only usable 1/room.

My preference would be for channel.

There are a lot of great text options presented. They are certainly clearer to me.

If space is still a concern how about:
"For every 1 hp you channel into a damage spell, add 1 pt of damage and if at least 15 hp is channeled, you may cast as a Free Action. (1/room)"

I used channeled because that's the one Jeff landed on and it also got the least concern from those worried about self-harm connotations. It helps reiterate that HP are a nebulous concept related to tenacity and skill, not directly related to blood magic/physical damage.

I'm ultimately fine with what Jeff chooses, of course, but it seems like an easy thing to help protect more sensitive members of the community from psychological triggers will keeping the intended result.

I'm assuming that for the purposes of multi target spells this extra damage is a pool that must be divided among the targets. Is that correct?

Thats how the original MEC worked - so I've always assumed it to be the same.
