I suggest

Acts like a baby relic, while still giving a nod to melee.

+3 Ranged Damage
or
+1 to melee hit
+1 to damage melee

Easier to write that as:

+1 ranged hit
+3 ranged damage
Or
+2 Str

I still feel like the rogue amulet is out of line with the UR bracers. Sure this is one class vs all, different slot, and only sneak attack but it's one of the 2 classes we were most concerned about in 2018, rare rogues didnt have much else in that slot, and rogues only really ever cared about this power for sneak attack anyway. Please consider adding a 1/game limit to this item to at least maintain the impression that the a power difference between it and the UR. Realistically a 1/game limit wont make this item much weaker given how often a dungeon has more the 1 monster that cant be sneak attacked anyway.

P.S I totally consider this comparable to the UR bracers. 1 class vs all, it doesnt matter if wizards gain access crit immunity on their melee attacks since they dont make them. The classes we were concerned about were rogue for sneak attack and dwarf fighter.

It also doesn't matter if this blocks the neck for relic level players. We are talking about the rare level. This is OP even at the UR level (+2 dmg rare bracers & this rare neck are functionally identical to +2 dmg rare completion neck and UR bracers for rogues)

IMO even with a 1/game limit this is hands down the best rogue neck at the rare level.Not to mention that there will be a lot more of these in circulation this year then the competing combo.

Necklace of the Songbird - Maybe make an instrument. If it stays a neck item and stacks with other instruments it's too powerful imo.

Redstone - If AC 15 isn't hit does it still do non-fire damage? Unclear based on the current wording and if your a new player. Might be better "AC 15 to hit. Does fire damage."

+1 Dwarven Decapitator

Was 2h weapon in earlier versions.


+2 Sling Stone of Smiting

Interestingly enough the +2 Sling Bullet of Gazebo Slaying does not have text about to hit or dmg bonuses.


Amulet of Smashing

Second try at getting "when attacking" dropped as it's not in the rules to deal damage with a 2h weapon while not attacking.


Medallion of Keenness

This is way too specific. Just drop rare requirements. Consider that if someone has UR weapon or shield, probably going to run a different neck item, anyway. So, all doing is limiting people using commons, uncommons, and transmutes. None of those are a problem.


Necklace of the Songbird

No non-instrument token should add to hit and/or damage to bardsong. While there's plenty of ways to be more similar to prior versions, getting help from a Songbird could be thematically represented with +1 to saves or the like. Or, if want to make it spicy, "Adds '+1 to saves' to party's Bardsong bonuses". Who knows, that last might still see play with WLL builds.


Necklace of the Woodlands

Um. So, bracers can give +2 damage. Neck is better than bracers, in theory. Class specific token can be stronger than any class token. Note that the similar wizard token would be "+3 spell dmg" or the similar cleric token would be "+3 healing" or the equivalent druid token would be "+3 healing, spell dmg, polymorph dmg" (I can't resist). Would I replace an UR neck item with this? I'm not sure, which is scary when one considers how amazing UR neck items are.


Pendant of the Pure

Does the DR from this work the same way as normal DResistance in class ability? I guess so, since DReduction and DResistance are two different mechanics.


Robe of the Sage

Either add "damage scrolls" to this token or drop it from other token. Either non-damaging scrolls can deal damage or they can't.

Medallion of Keenness: I agree this should have the rare requirement dropped from it. Otherwise it makes it makes it harder for folks to justify getting that UR weapon which is counterproductive. It also makes the whetstone transmute too desirable.

Do we really want to have fighters that never want to move on from a +1 drow blood sword + whetstone combination?

The hit/damage stuff on the keen bolt is reminder text.

All +x ammo gives +x to hit and damage as part of the effect.

I’m not saying this token shouldn’t have this text - but it doesn’t change the function.

While I understand why (you can't double healing on a non healing token), it's super weird that the rare gloves allow you to use non healing potions and the 4 star gloves don't.

Also agreed that +3 melee damage feel like too much for the Ranger necklace, but +2 has existed at rare in other slots forever, so if you want the neck slot to be special, I dont know if you can go down to +2 there. You can get away with +3 ranged, I think (compares to Blessed Tempest Gloves) but not +2 melee (which is just Bracers of Frost).

In regards to the Amulet of Flawsight:
Past two revisions, it's been fine to remove Sneak Attack immunity and give +2 to hit, although the wording was tweaked to make it ultra clear what it did/didn't do.

Last thread, Cranston very wisely pointed out that removing the equivalency between crit immunity and Sneak Attack immunity was a PITA for coding and DMs.

Would a limit to just working with the Sneak Attack make this better? So, the SA hit and only the SA hit ignores the immunities? Would that preserve enough of the bracers's ability, since the Rare necklace isn't for the full combat?

Edit: and would that still be easy enough to code?

Edit 2: And the +2 to hit with SA was also key, as Rare rogues need to stack a LOT of tokens to get a decent melee to hit.

Designing the game around the fact that Bracers of Guided Strike is the only token that does what it does seems like a bad idea. Should be other slots that do what BoGS does so that it isn't a locked slot forever.

A class specific token that does the same thing at rare neck doesn't seem out of line with this idea. Doesn't remove the other Sneak Attack limitation, so eating up neck to SA/crit anything and another slot to remove delay and either need to build up melee to hit or build up missile to hit and have token enable ranged SA.

But, then, I suppose my lack of familiarity with Sneak Attack in practice makes me a bad person to argue one way or the other about it.

20 points of damage on the Saluki seems like a lot. It’s keyworded as retribution to melee undead, but it’s still more damage than a level 5 turn undead
