This was the precise reasoning why i had mentioned a 2nd neck slot item in my original post. I need to choose between using my most powerful treasure enhancer (AoTF) or going for the new Relic, and then possibly the new ranger legendary. Im going to redo my previous idea and make it more balanced.

Charm of the Jewlery Master 2.0
May equip a UR Treasure Enchancer token as a charm, May not equip other charms, and May only equip 3 Ioun Stones.

This would effectively make this -1 (technically 2) charm slot and a -2 Ioun stone slot.
Classes Played: Ranger x9 Druid x3, Fighter x3, Monk x2, Dwarf Fighter x1, Barbarian x1

I will give a +1 to the idea that upper-mid tier token collectors (UR/Relic level) with AoTF are currently not particularly encouraged to try to pick up their class relics. As of today it would be at least 5, potentially 6 years until that neck slot is potentially cleared with the TE merging recipe (and there's no guarantee that wouldn't end up in the neck slot too).


If it were a slotless UR that would let you move one TE token into, that would probably get a lot of interest. Probably extremely high amount of interest.

Now I think you made it cost too much (partly due to your wording). Given the presence of slot expanders, you should probably just say "takes 2 Charm and 2 Ioun Stone slots", otherwise you block the use of the expanders as well.

But, I think you can go a bit cheaper than that. Two of one slot and one of the other, or three of one of them would probably be about right give or take.

I think probably people are overconstraining the treasure enhancer holding charm concept.

CoA didn't just merge 3 slots into 1 slot, it also merged 3 UR TE effects into 1 slot. It would not have been a legendary effect to transfer any 1 of those slots into the charm level.

It's pretty clear that a straight charm of +1 neck slot would be extremely excessive, but the limitation of only applying to a treasure enhancer (2/19 of the UR+ neck possibilities or 2/73 of all neck possibilities) really feels adequate to not require burning 3 slots for.

I wanted to post an idea (credit to lross).

+1 Viper Crossbow. Damage wheel 2, 6, 6, 8. It would count as part of the Viper set.

This would be a welcome addition to the viper set while encouraging viper players to buy a 2020 pyp lenses of agility. It could be used by any class but prized by rogues or Monks.

Thanks, I'd been trying to think of a way to print an alternative ranged weapon for Rogue build diversity and this seemed like a way to get decent sneak/ranged damage without having very messy working on the token :)

It would probably need a couple of Viper Strike items to be printed in the same year for new player availability, but even if reprints aren't an option then there's little reason to avoid printing new Viper Strike items, the builds which benefit from the set bonus most are Monk and Ranger who currently only need to equip one non-weapon Viper Strike item anyway.

Hand crossbows are d4 weapons, light crossbows are d6. Heavy are d8 or 10 but can't be used by Rogues.

Average damage for Rogue usable UR light crossbows is 6 1/3 - 6 2/3.

I'd recommend this be a hand crossbow with a damage wheel of 4, 5, 6, 7 including 2 points of poison baked into the wheel.


Edit: forgot assassinate is melee only - so no problem with two 6’s on a 4 slot damage wheel.

RoSP Rogues assassinate on a 6 damage dot. There is no Rogue weapon with 50% of the damage wheel being covered by a 6.

Hand crossbows are d4 weapons, light crossbows are d6. Heavy are d8 or 10 but can't be used by Rogues.

Average damage for Rogue usable UR light crossbows is 6 1/3 - 6 2/3.

I'd recommend this be a hand crossbow with a damage wheel of 4, 5, 6, 7 including 2 points of poison baked into the wheel.

I'm not sure this would be terribly popular with Monks - they can throw 2 shurikens, and just got an item to make the shurikens returning. Of course, turning this item into a shuriken doesn't address the rogue equipment alternative either. Maybe put Viper Strike Shuriken as a note for another set?

I also need to remember to refer to this post next time we have a conversation about opening up the Prestige classes to more people. Without doing that, there is ongoing design and development work that needs to be done / considered every year for a growing minority of the player base.
