I had an idea for a mechanic. Soul binding.

While filling out the party card two players wearing a soul binding token may identify each other as bound souls. If bound, they activate the stats on the token. Soul binding means that if one dies the other also instantly dies. This allows people to role-play all types of kinship with an in-game impact.

For such a high cost I imagine something as below but trust the forums to balance the power for our meta and economy.

Bound ring of heroism (rare)
+1 level if character is bound to another player. Multiple bound effects do not stack. Each player must equip a binding token. Players cannot be bound to more than one person.

This sounds really fun! Though maybe this would be a transmuted item using some other Soul sharing ability as a +1 level rare seems incredibly strong. What if the Rare version offered like +2 added health and combined healing effects, but at an expense to when one player took direct (non group damage), the other took the same amount.

For the transmute that shared a +1 level, when the other dies, the player has until the end of the room to revive using Ash's Death Pouch and Potions giving them time to trigger a revive effect, if they can not, the soul bound player is soul broken and can not go on.

Personally I don’t think we should have a rare +1 level tokens. I just think it cheapens the URs and relics.

The ring of fateful heroism cost both ring slots and -1 saves. So any rares would need to be purely worse. Maybe 6 pedestrian rares and some kind of set bonus for +1 level I could see (ring, charm, amulet, Earcuff, bracers, and belt). That would be great for the hardcore players, but would make URs and relics way better still.

Any set at rare for a level bump should probably include neck, as we generally consider it the most powerful.

I have liked the idea for a large 6+ rare set bonus for a plus lvl for a while but I don’t remember it getting a lot of buzz when it was brought up last year

Wade,
I've seen the same comment before about the neck slot being the most powerful. I just don't understand that logic, as a Wizard, there really isn't a BIS. I know the legendarys are mostly neck slots but short of that, there isn't a Great token for Wizards to equip.
Can you explain the fascination?
Thanks

At UR, we've got:
Horn of Plenty +6 treasure
Amulet of Treasure finding +4 Treasure
Medallion of Valhalla +7 total attributes
Stu-pendous Pendant +6 total attributes
Amulet of the Champion +6 total attributes
Charm Necklace +3 charms <- BiS Wizard, IMO
etc...

I'll grant that a BIS discussion is often subjective, particularly for a class that doesn't have their legendary yet.

I could add MoMM to that list as well.

OK so there are some really powerful really OLD tokens out there
Charm Necklace - maybe BIS but is from 2012 and I didn't see any for sale
Horn of Plenty is from 2007 and I did find a few for sale but starting at $665
Amulet of Treasure Finding is from 2015 and starts at $330
Stu-pendous Pendant is from 2014 with some reasonably priced
Amulet of the Champion from 2016 is a Volunteer token so somewhat limited availability
Medallion of Valhalla 2018 more readily available
My argument is that the first three although in existence shouldn't be heavily considered when making choices. MOST players aren't going to have access to those tokens. The last 3 although good they aren't typically the same power level other BIS tokens have. I use Medallion of Valhalla but it doesn't cause me any great angst if I swap it out for Medallion of Mystic Mouth for a wand build.
The other comments have seemed like "OMG we can't ever consider another neck slot"
I grant the first 3 are quite powerful but as I stated aren't in great circulation at this time.

Interesting enough, if you printed something that allowed 2 neck slots, you could equip:
Neck 1: horn of plenty
Neck 2: Amulet of treasure finding
Ring 1: ring of riches
Charm 1: charm of good fortune
Ioun 1 and 2: nuggets
Slotless: 6th level

Total is 25 treasure (4 above using CoA).

I’m onboard with this - I’ll find a way to get a horn of plenty

Cool so there is room for a neck slot expanding token.

Better make it 3 so I can fit both TEs and the cleric relic / legendary ;)

Not sure if you are joking - but read the TDb entry for CoA/HoP/AoTF - they can never be used together - it doesn’t matter what slots you have.

Coa says you can’t use Any of the components, or the AoTF. I didn’t see anything in the entries for the individual URs that says they can’t be used together.
