Thanks, for the clarification. Was really tired when I posted that.


How about this instead: an Ioun Stone that adds +2 to a single save.

You could make a matching uncommon that adds +1 to the same save.

Cycle through the series in 2022 and 2023. Put Beryl in the rotation, and you could have one of these "save" ioun stones in print every year.

This would give new players some usable Ioun Stones at the rare level...which is something that I feel the game has not excelled at.

How about a ring a focus as a rare? I know it was originally printed as a UR, but a +1 has since become the standard value for rares, and it would be nice to have a rare +1 heal item available in the ring slot (wizards at least got ring of [Jelous] Fervor on the damage front).

Cap of the swift +1 Dex, all classes

Joungler's Pendant +2 Dex, Free Movement

Cowards Cap +2 Con +2 AC -3 Str

Elven Gloves +2 Dex

Holy Symbol of Wrath - expend all charges of turn undead to make your next attack a crit if it hits

Bead of Blasting - +1 AC. Turn in to deal 5 damage to an enemy (you lose the +1 AC when you do this)


Scroll of Bardic Tunes - Party adds +2 to melee, ranged and spell damage for 1 room

Potion of the Inferno - Add +3 fire damage to your damage spells for 1 room

Runestone of the Sorcerer - +1 Acid damage to spells

Arrow of returning - +2 to damage, is not consumed, 1 user per room

Boomerang of striking - melee weapon. May be used as a ranged attack 1/game

I like these except I think +2 Dex AND Free Movement is too much for a Rare

It's a neck slot. I think that balances it out.

consider the Amulet of Vigor this year for example

I posted this late last year:

I had an idea for a mechanic. Soul binding.

While filling out the party card two players wearing a soul binding token may identify each other as bound souls. If bound, they activate the stats on the token. Soul binding means that if one dies the other also instantly dies. This allows people to role-play all types of kinship with an in-game impact.

For such a high cost I imagine something as below but trust the forums to balance the power for our meta and economy.

Bound ring of heroism (rare)
+1 level if character is bound to another player. Multiple bound effects do not stack. Each player must equip a binding token. Players cannot be bound to more than one person.

THOT's Magical Book of Beasts (Tome):
(note this is not an instrument and cannot be used the same round as an instrument)

Bard may perform Lore Check and Cast a spell (cannot bardsong this round).
If successful lore check, damage type of bard spells are changed to favorable damage type for rest of combat.

If this is deemed not strong enough you could also change it to all magic (all heroes too?) is favorable type. spells, wands, scrolls... but that sounds a bit OP for a rare.

If this is too strong you can change it to one round only instead of all rounds, but that sounds a bit weak given the loss of +1/+1 for the party.

Whatever the changes I would want this to be a rare level in strength and prevent the ability to bard song for a round. It adds another choice for the jack of all trades class. Do I give +1/+1 and lore check or do I sack a round of song to give magical prowess during the rest of my combats? We bards love our choices.

Lyre of lore is a rare slotless that lets you perform two actions (song and check) AND +2 dmg for party to song.
