I cannot see anyone actually picking this up. A UR that you’ll have to use an uncommon weapon for just to sneak at range. I can’t see that replacing a UR crossbow that I just picked up last year.

I assume most rogues will use Heimdall Sight (or whatever lenses they already had) over this UR. So many better URs to get for your build then +2dex at eye slot.

Fair points. I’m thrilled that the obsolescence problem was fixed and a trade won’t be necessary (although would have preferred a straight reprint or use of a different slot without the bow restriction). But the lack of availability of current UR short bows essentially nullifies this token for new players. I might feel better about it if this year’s set included solid rare and ultra rare short bows.

EDIT: this whole situation, by the way, is why I argued in the first design thread for a trade in opportunity (or transmute style upgrade opportunity) for LoVI instead of arguing to nerf the token. We went from a win win for new buyers and existing LoVI owners to something that feels like an irrelevant bummer of a token. Dex rogues sneaking from range is good for the game. Don’t limit this to a subset of rogue players.

Lenses went from a Buy to a Hard Pass for me.

Lucky is strong vs Redoubt (especially UR to UR, yikes), but Redoubt has a better set bonus so it still has that in its favor at least.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

I agree with Filk & others as I'm also pretty bummed and confused as to why the lenses were restricted to only shortbows. I've been thinking hoping to play a dex rogue for many years, but I fear I'll have to keep waiting if items that allow for variation and experimentation are restricted. Rogues only have access to 11 shortbows: 5 of them common, 0 uncommon, 2 rare, 2 combo, and 2 UR (2007 and 2010). This is in contrast to the 32 crossbows, slings, blowguns, & guns.

I would change the token from limiting the ranged weapons to only shortbows back to allowing all ranged weapons as the previous versions were, removing the bonus to dexterity if to be inline with the previous printing. Or if the token needs to be different from the previous printing then perhaps only allow showbows, crossbows, and hand-crossbows, all weapons with a very roguish flavor.

This was my most desired token of 2020, it's off my list. This development cycle went on far too long.

Ascribing motive to a choice is a dangerous thing to do. I agree that this token should be changed back, or just don't do a trade in.

I'm actually glad he didn't just list this as the final final set.

I do not totally disagree, it comes off a little harsh, I should have added a question mark. That said, that's my honest perception of it given the context of the development thread. This was the first year I was truly turned off by the development process, very contentious and drawn out with too many rounds of revisions in my opinion. This was also the token that I looked the most forward to and stayed the same all the way through. I can admit emotion factored in seeing the change and my disdain for this years process.

I'm glad too as, this was a very surprising and very disappointing change that makes no sense. The rest look good to me including the change to the Cooks Hat.

I like the balance I don't feel any of these are must buy except the charms of broaching and the charm for the ring slot. Everything else I will wait till next year.

I would be 100% fine with this compromise.

Oh wow, how did I not notice until this minute that the +1 Short Bow got dropped off the rare list like four revisions ago?

How did you determine that the resistance to printing that token was due to resale prices?

I don't recall a single person invoking that reason.

There are very few of these out there, it's not like someone is sitting on 8 of these trying to sell them at $200 a crack. At a glance of online stores I see 0 for sale.

For the record, I thought the prior version of this token was good, and the trade in offer was very generous.

Not a fan of the Lenses. Just re-print Vital Insight.

The lenses are a little lacklustre... Lenses of the Fae are a little better.

But it crossbows were included that may tempt me, albeit that is one lucky shot.

Ring of the Drake: Now has nothing that is unique for monks. Maybe make the +2 Flaming Blade the "starter" item for the Relic/Legendary now since it does.

Lenses of the Archer: Keep this name, go back to the other effect.

+2 Flaming Blade: I appreciate the FoB weapon for new monks.

Cook's Hat: I like the compromise here.

Lucky items: As they are, I'm considering selling off my Redoubt Relics (Mail, Plate & Shield) for lucky items instead.
