We've put a hard cap on the number of Charms (10) and Ioun Stones (9) one can equip. We feel it's important to rein-in future slot-expansion. At this time, only the Charm and Ioun Stone slots are being capped, but it's possible that at some point in the future we may need to cap other slots.

Good call. But can we make it 10 and 10, so its easier to remember?

How about 8 and 8 so we can start with the meaningful decisions on slot expanders now?

+1

This would torpedo the current year Ioun booster - plenty of people are already at 7 ioun.

It should probably be 9 and 9 or 10 and 10.
The 9 and 9 would be more inline with the Ioun Stones of 5 base + 2 from earcuff of orbits + 2 from new braces = 9.

I actually prefer the idea that if you fit both Ioun Stone slot expanders (wrist and earcuff) that you end up only gaining 3 IS slots. If you REALLY want that 8th IS slot, you'll have to trade your ear / wrist for it, not trade the wrist / ear and gain a bonus slot.

I think if you make it 8 & 8, then anyone who owns Orbits doesn't buy the Arcane Bracelets. TD is just leaving money on the table in this scenario.

At 9 & 9, even if someone's using Charm Necklace, he/she may still get the Arcane Earcuff just because they'd like something else for their wrist slot.

The value of the Wrist slot is much higher than ever. Bracers of Reckless Fury, Bracers of Supreme Archery, Charm Bracelets, Bracers of Fast Fitness are all solid options in the slot.

And Guided Strike.

They could still add the bracelet to their earcuff of orbits to get an 8th. Is 1 extra IS worth an ear? Sounds like an interesting discussion.

I dream of the day where the ever expanding powerful slotless tokens are capped and people have to make choices to encourage build differences~

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I'd just like to mention that I have one character I run (Rybak The Dwarf Fighter). And because of the ticket price I can only do each Adventure once. Maybe a couple times for one of them.

I only have Tokens to equip Rybak. They are expensive Tokens that I spent considerable time in acquiring via trading and money and transmuting. When I do TD it will be with those Tokens... all of them.

Rybak is worth well over $15K. There is no way I can conceivably justify not playing with those Tokens when I only get to do TD less than 10 times per year. If there is a cap because people want to screw the big spenders than you all are welcome to bid on my Tokens because I'll stop playing. I'll Volunteer but I won't pay for an Adventure again.

They don't have to specifically limit you from using everything you have. They could, however, stop releasing slotless tokens to not make the problem worse.

And, if you're already maxed out on your dwarf fighter, are you still a big spender?

I am certainly in favor of maximum slot numbers. I think it should be closer to:

Ioun Stone (9) - Max 4 extra
Charm (8) - Max 5 extra

Why do I say that because with Ioun Stones we can get to 7 and Charms we can get to 8 today. These new slot expanders should just give us different ways to get there not improve the numbers. I am giving a benefit to IS for 2 more just because of all the new treasure enhancers.

Back is already set at 2 and Ring at 3 so those should be ok.

I still transmute/buy/trade for Tokens that become the next BiS if that happens.

I really don’t think we need additional slot stopper past what is proposed now. We can save that discussion for the next round of enhancers. Capping things even worse now will tank token sales for these upcoming URs. Honestly defeats the point. And this is from someone who only has Charm bracers and will replace them to only have one expander each.

Animal Friend: Once per room, rangers can use any polymorph potion token to summon a spiritual animal friend for one room. The summoned creature can't be dispelled, damaged, or buffed. When attacking with a 2H projectile-firing missile weapon, the ranger player puts that polymorph token into the second slider and slides both in the same manner as a ranger normally would on a melee attack slide (one puck in each hand, slid simultaneously.) The spiritual animal friend uses the ranger's To Hit modifier as written on the party card. The damage done by the spiritual animal friend is determined solely by the amount shown on the polymorph token--damage is not subject to any modifiers whatsoever. The ranger does not get any "side bonuses" from the polymorph token. (E.g., a spiritual asp friend would not reduce the ranger's Poison damage received.) The polymorph token must be turned in at the end of combat like other polymorph potions normally would be.

If the goal is to appeal to new players, then we should be less concerned that a limit prevents a vet from stacking to X slots, as long as that limit is not broken by the new token.

For example, setting the IS Max to 7 would allow the new player to use the new IS bracers while the vet would get nothing more than the ability to swap slots to hit 7. We probably wouldn't want to set the cap to 6 ioun stones though and release a 2 is expander.

Setting the limit to 9 imposes no constraints on anyone, though it sets the stage well in advance for the next expander. Imo, it also lets everyone have their nugget cake and eat it too, which doesn't make for very interesting build decisions.
