Maybe Cooks hat could be -2 charms instead of cap at 3, it would be consistent with other gain a level and allow growth from the new slot expanders. Maybe the ring of fateful heroism, and necklace could get an errata to be -1 and -2 rings respectively with the new charm expander.

As someone who would be looking to get the new hat for my group I think -2 stones is just fine. Honestly my group probably won’t have great ion stones for years and years. And the hat is a nice trade off to the ring. I’ll probably have a split of the two in some form.

From what I can tell, the UR level boosters are not really targeted to be long term level boosters, but instead are a stepping stone to 5th level via Charm / Ring of Heroism, Eldrich level (not really likely anymore), or multi piece set (might, charming).

Perhaps next year we can get a relic Ioun Stone of Heroism that takes any 3 of Ring of Fateful Heroism, Cook's Hat, or Charming Set Piece. Any players that get the hat have a year to upgrade to the new Ioun Stone and even have room in their builds because the hat freed up IS slots.

That gives it flavour which Vital Insight doesn’t have, and forces a choice for those Rogues who use daggers or hammers or crossbows... AND leaves design space for making a cool Lenses token down the road which adds Ranged Sneak to a different weapon type.

Not a bad idea (could be a Rare if changed to Hand Crossbows). The big issue is the +2 Assassin's Crossbow which would be the big token left out.

Jeff did say there will be a trade in for Lenses of Vital Insight if people wish. Seems like that would work.

I did consider the Assassin’s Crossbow specifically when suggesting the Seer Sight Lenses work with Bows.

1) this year has no crossbows in the set... but it does have a Short Bow in the uncommon offerings.

2) the bow is the most common kind of ranged weapon for casual players to use, available across many years

3) The Assassins Crossbow came out a while back, so anyone whose heart is set on using it for Sneak Attack has probably had a chance to hunt down Lenses of Vital Insight already.

4) If they haven’t managed to acquire Vital Insight yet, they are likely to find more copies available next year as folks who use a Bow for Ranged attacks swap out to the “better” Seer Sight Lenses, and sell the older Lenses on the secondary market.

5) It gives the Crossbow-using Rogues at least a year to think up & lobby for a better name that “Seer Sight”

Personally I like Scoptacles but that is just me.

I still love a Rare printed with a Hand Crossbow allowing sneak with it (or just print it on the Hand Crossbow).

I honestly think turning the lenses into bow only is not worth even considering at UR especially when there’s only a bow at uncommon. I know I wouldn’t be the only one scratching it off my list of URs to buy.

Let’s just reprint the Vital Insight at that point. Or keep it how it has been proposed for 6 iterations now.

I think the lenses are +2 Dex to make them usable by every class in case some new player, non-rogue opens one in their 10 pack.

I don't love the name, would prefer something that pays homage to the original token. Maybe Lenses of Vital Accuracy? Something that suggests Dexterity as well as striking a specific target.
