To actual range. You can shoot into the next room to help another group.

If the guard stacks, I am fine with this version.
If the guard doesnt stack, the legendary may as well say +3 Str, +3 Dex or +4 Con.

I love retribution damage! Would trade sacrifice, auto kill or even LoH for it.

That said, I'm happy with this version.

The Barbarian legendary seems like it needs tweaked down a bit. Or more than a bit. A free 20, which can be a lot!

The monk legendary is crazy. 8 damage with FoB, and stun basically every room, and GotFF, and Psychic. That's a lot of goodness. Feels like a bit too much.

The ranger looks fun, but pretty well balanced. At least to me. No idea though, as it, like druid, is pushing one playstyle.

I am having a hard time reconciling these legendaries with the Druid legendary of last year. Is this the appropriate power level for these items?

With that said they are all very desirable tokens that will definitely drive people to collect them. I would not want to see them changed into something that does not feel like a capstone item.

I think FOB is good at 17-20

I am much happier with the path that the monk relic/legendary is currently on than previous versions.

If there is some additional tuning, I would keep the enhanced stun range from becoming narrower than 17-20 or just swap it out for a different perk of some sort.
If the damage is reduced, I would like to see some added defensive stats like CON, AC or Saves to balance it out.
I liked the versatile +1 psychic power over the current tier 7 power, but will take it either way.

All in all, I feel much better about the monk relic/legendary and will absolutely be making it if it resembles this iteration.

Edit - Side note:
We can tone down the barbarian Fury mechanic now...
Or we can let it pass and everyone can refocus their ire against the front-runner damage dealer from monk to barbarian.
I am okay with either outcome.

Monk Necklaces

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is all I ever wanted from the necklaces and more.

Small nit picks:
Legendary has quotes around the increased stun range, relic does not.
Legendary has a "w/" between the Sacred dmg and FoB, relic does not.

Does this mean the monk only gets the Level 7 power, Energy Control? Or has the monk been "imbued with Psychic Powers" and has access to up to tier 7 powers, like equipping all 7 Teeth and an Imbuer?

On Ava's "to use of" isn't clear. Do you get to Sacrifice an additional time or save a second ally? What does "to use of" with Guarding mean?

May not fit, but a more readable way to express could be:

Sacrifice [2/game] & Guard +1 ally

There is text space on the LoH line, especially if LoH gets abbreviated like the relic.

Of course, neither 4th level paladin nor Paladin Cavalier get Sacrifice, so it might have to say +1 to use of Sacrifice to not confuse.

The addition of the psychic power to the legendary is really neat, and gives the monks access to the higher tier powers a year or two before everyone else. Not game breaking, imho, but just a little extra.

I am totally happy with the toning down of the Paladin relic. It still has something that will be relevant every single dungeon. The new wording makes me think it stacks with amulet of guarding now. I really hope so.

Barb relic seems good. Legendary seems actually insane. Seems like most barbs will be doing something like 150plus damage each first round with it. Is that ok?

I would like to see +1 use of psychic and level 1-7. For the people who have collected the teeth, the current iteration will be moot in what, a year after this prints?

Also, the Barb could use the +2 Death Flail (3x damage on crit), so... yeah, 150 pts of damage is a conservative estimate, imo.

It needs to be cleared up how this works - it's not clear to me that it would.

+2 Death Flail's TDb entry says:

When a barbarian wielding this weapon’s first slide in combat is a natural 20 (not just a critical hit), the damage gets tripled instead of doubled.

I don't believe the effect of Fury gives you a natural 20, it gives you a 20. So you would get your regular 2x crit.

With Monks and Rangers sliding two pucks every combat, Barbarians having a 1/room ability to crit if they slide a called hit is probably just about right for Barbarians to get into the same damage tier as Monks and Rangers - less consistent, more explosive.

I am really happy where this ended up. I hope it sticks.

Apparently, there's a rule on stun that it's once per combat. I'm ok if the monk can pop this off 1 or two combats. Seems to be at the right power level.

That's right, the Monk ability on 5th level Monk is:

Your first natural 20 slide using Flurry of Blows Stuns target for 1 round (1/combat)

So this changes the range where this operates to the first natural 16-20 slid.

Seems like we're going to be thanking our Monks for some breathing room 1/combat!

I would wonder how often TBTP want this effect to fire off - it seems to me it will probably happen at least 60% of the time in round 1 or 2, and maybe as much as 90% of the time in round 1 or 2 depending on skill of slider.

I love Monk, I'll be transmuting this legendary, but I believe the current version is too strong in combining a large typed damage bonus and also the GoFF "may make melee attacks at range" ability.

It gives:

1. +8 damage on each of two pucks.

2. Allows those two pucks to be slid in melee and at range (if a FoB attack is used).

3. Frees up the hand slot of GoFF Monks, allowing an additional +4/5 STR and thus a further +2/+2 or +3/+3 to melee, and now also at range.

So the Monk is getting access to ~+2/+10 to melee, and also at range.

For comparison, of static damage alone:

* Barbarian is getting +10 untyped melee damage
* Monks are getting +8, +8 sacred damage in both melee and at range

(Barbarians get additional Rage and Fury, Monks get Stun on 16-19, both are very powerful effects, and I sort of think they are a wash without knowing more about the particular combat scenario).

I would either:

a. Pull the Sacred damage back to +5 on the Legendary and +2 or 3 on the relic, or:
b. Pull the GoFF effect off these tokens
(or... c... Make the Barbarian damage +16 Fire damage and Fury may target flying creatures)...

If the GoFF effect is removed I would reprint GoFF in 2020 or 2021.

It's only a free 20 if you hit your called shot. Still really good - but not scoring a hit or being bumped off a hit has to happen at least 20% of the time, right?
