The rare just reduces the damage of the monster throwing him off balance.

The UR makes it where he does less damage and the monk can make him target another player. So monster attacks the wizard and the monk hits him and redirects the attack to the paladin instead.

The legendary increases the monsters damage but tries to force the monster to hit another monster or himself.
You don't have to outrun the monster, just the guy next to you - The buddy system.

Now that I've gotten some sleep I've looked at some ideas that people had for the Monk Necklace and compared it to the current. I like the idea of having it pull in existing abilities like the GoFF, Ring of stunning, and then one unique ability.

So the idea is to make a UR that will let you use the Quivering Palm ability with the highest number of the damage wheel on any weapon. The Relic adds in the GoFF ability. The Legendary expands the Stun/QP ability to 19-20. Limit with uses per game?room?

This one is shooting for the moon but thought I'd put it out there.
You don't have to outrun the monster, just the guy next to you - The buddy system.

What if the first was a weapon that upgraded to an neck slot? It should be flurry capable, and maybe required in main hand for the ability upgrade, or both hands? If both hands the legendary should require the ur as well to not make it a useless buy.

Edit: not sure I like it, I’m just “yes and”-ing this idea since I’m at the docs office

You could make it a reprint of the bracers of the quivering palm, and the relic turns it into a necklace, and yes I think that if it was going to use this that the recipe should have 2 URs of the BoQP and GoFF in it. THe relic should have the ring of the stunning fist.

I'd suggest limiting this to flurry-able weapons.

I'd suggest limiting this to flurry-able weapons.


Yeah I think that was my intent but never put it into words :) That way you don't have someone using a d4 dagger to get higher stun/death chances.

I like it, better would be if it must stay in bracer location put it at +2 with 1 point sacred damage in the wheel. No set bonus. A ur that doesn’t get +2 is already super sad. Taking the bracer slot too. Could also make it a +2 rod 3-8 wheel which seems pretty meh for a ur and quivering palm? Rods are fob right?

The only reason I went with changing it to the neck slot was that Jeff was making all the class legendaries (except the bard and Paladin) neck slot items. Yeah it could be a Rod of disruption or something like that, that dissolves a target on crit 20 with the max damage facing the dot. Not sure if Rod's are FOB.

I agree with the relic and legendary being neck slot, just spitballing the UR other classes might use. Bracers that act as quivering palm and add two points of damage to an attack is almost a rare for anyone not a monk, and two would be required for all monks, obviously couldn’t stack the bonus damage for monks.

I am liking the idea, and I get energized by cool ideas. I can drop it. You’ve come up with a very cool legendary I’m excited for.

I'm generally not a fan of "one shot kills" on monsters, but maybe its just because I only run each dungeon once and like to slide.

Perhaps the same general idea could be used but swap around where the monster gets smoked on a single hit? Ex: reprint of the GoFF could be the UR level item, and save the Quivering Palm upgrade for any FoB weapon for the Legendary? Relic could be enhanced stunning fist range w/ GoFF effect, though I'm not quite sure that is cool enough for a relic...

On the transmute tokens, you probably don't want to use OOP items, and I don't think they will reprint the Ring of the Stunning Fist for 2020 after reprinting it in 2018. Maybe use a reprinted +1 Shuriken?
