I was thinking more along the lines of a consumable transmute that somehow interacts with the rogue box and gets added back into the rogue box instead of being discarded rather than one specifically that granted an additional ten pulls before doing the same. :p


Yes, I know that is awful. So the later it goes the more that are in there meaning you need ever increasing treasure for each that is pulled. So your 10 pulls turns into 10 of them items, which is 100 pulls which could pull 100 and so on and so on.


Which is exactly why I clarified that I'm not a fan of the ten pulls part. XD

So it just becomes a time waster as they go into the box and you keep pulling them out to try to get something else.


I could see a minor neat interaction along the lines of "you get a bonus treasure in addition to the clue" being great for newer rogues- let 'em do the whole libram thing on a one-time basis without having to buy the full libram. Could be a relatively easy to make transmute too- something along the lines of a set of masterwork thieves' tools and a bit of gold.

Sure, I don't think it would be broken at all, since the cost would likely be more than the value of the 10 tokens pulled. But maybe not more then the value of the fun experience of doing the pulling. I also think there would be a maximum of one of these per room used for the group :)

Counterpoint - no, it shouldn't. Having your stats reflected on the card is a massive advantage - why should getting such an advantage also cost less resources?

This should be ~9 or so (3 rounds of combat in 3 rooms).

Really like Brad's idea of a consumable transmute that would affect party use. Outside of grind i tend to avoid consumables as they never really feel like i'm getting value out of them as a budget player. I'd like something simple to keep what little sanity we coaches have left, maybe something that affects HP or initiative? regarding the banners.


Has anyone here ever transmuted and used the transmutable ammo and oil? I doubt it, or if so if this was done in quantity.

Potion Bull's Strength, damage runestones, healing potions and scrolls, and Totem Paints are at about the right level of effectiveness to actually get used (and maybe 1/room wands with Mystic Mouth).

Other consumables (ammo, dust, non-damage effect runestones, non-healing scrolls, non-healing potions other than Bull's Strenght) I don't believe are used (please speak up if you do).

Even less so would a transmute consumable be used, unless it were very powerful.

Yes, I have used all but 4 of the dozen +3 Ammo I created, all but 3 of the 8 Eldritch Runestones, and a number of Viper Oils, though I couldn't tell you exact numbers on that one, since for some reason I didn't inventory it. Same thing with healing transmutes.

I imagine Dust of Appearance would have seen the occasional use in the Rakshasa room this year had it been in print. I can see an argument for ammo, but I think most of the others are far too situational to see wide spread use.

I use several runestones, leap attack, and cats grace potions per year. Generally dont use ammo, wands, or scrolls other then healing. I also used oil of the tinker heavily the year it was relevant.

The ranger in my party will occasionally use an ammo, but only as a reminder to the DM to use his ranged bonuses instead of melee bonuses. He also uses oils from time to time. Otherwise, ammo is a not worth using.

I'm waiting for ammunition (and spell dust) to eventually get the wand change treatment and one ammo will apply its bonus for the entire room/combat. I find it strange that you can open one pack and get a +1 rare weapon and opening another you can get ONE decent rare arrow.
