May use one weapon not of your class

I thought at first this would be so awful in the hands of a ranger or monk. Then remembered that an Asher's +5 Viper Strike Fang has the same damage wheel as a Welfor's +5 Slayer Sword.

Io's +4 Ultra Keen Slayer Bow would be usable by more classes (if they had the dex to do so).

Maybe there is something I am not thinking of that would make this bad. Future tokens I guess. If the Paladin gets a cool transmute weapon next year that does paly stuff seeing it in a rogue's hands might feel odd.

1. It gives Rogues access to two handed weapons - and everyone but Ranger access to Deathcleaver. It gives Bards access to every two handed weapon except the one common they can already use.

2. It would give everyone access to the Holy Avernger transmute - certainly constrining design on that token.

3. It is the future I see - Druid's complaining that Wizards now get a Polymorph bonus from using the Baton of Focus.

4. It's going to cause confusion and arguments about whether Rangers can use 2 handed weapons and slide only one puck, or slide two pucks.

I think this is a very risky idea - and once the genie is out of the bottle, it can never get back in.

Start smaller to verify it doesn't break everything:

Tome of Yadayada:
You may equip any rare weapon.

Tome of Yadayada:
You may equip any head slot item.

Or limit it to the rarity of weapon to the rarity of the tome. Give it an uncommon brother Tome of the Weapon Apprentice and a Book of the Weapon Beloved before Scrawlings of the Weapon Purist and its older brother Bibliography of a Weapon Artist and the fin-ale, Drwaven Guide to the Kitchen Cutlery, for Elves.

I agree it should be tested at Rare or lower first. The original poster did not say it gave extra hands so the Ranger can single wield a two handed axe, one puck, not two.

Truly dislike how this idea erodes one of the things that is supposed to be part of the Fighter. One of the things that supposedly balances the Fighter not getting many cool things to do is "but they can wield almost every weapon and armor". This basically gives that aspect to the other classes, much like the FoP: Panther gave away the reslide.

A-ha - but Rangers are not allowed to slide 1 puck in combat (excluding grind scenarios) - let the arguing begin!

Maybe make this stronger and weaker at the same time:

UR - Adaptation Runestone - Consumable - All
You may equip tokens regardless of the class assignments (this does not grant the ability to cast spells, perform bracer attacks as a non-monk, etc.). You may equip either an additional charm or ring.
(1 use, turn in at start)

This allows some crazy, crazy builds, but will be very restricted based on it being a consumable.

Fiddy, want to add a useful suggestion to the conversation instead of a complaint in the “token ideas” thread?

This is not my idea, but it’s a good one that I would like to forward on, I think I read it in the Transmute thread, I might find a link for it in the morning.

Pretty sure until recently they could only use one bow at a time. I’d take a history lesson though if you have insight on the ranger I clearly do not have.

I don't see a reason to not raise my concerns now, rather than waiting until what I see as a dangerous idea has gained too much traction.

Are you cool with giving Fighters the ability to cast spells? Because unless you're on board with that, you probably shouldn't be giving all other classes the ability to use Fighter equipment. Given that the Hammers already eroded this quite a bit, I'd say the Fighters deserve to get spellcasting before other classes steal from them yet again.

Rangers are supposed to slide two pucks in melee. It isn't that they are given the option to slide two pucks, they are always supposed to be dual-wielding in melee (according to the literal wording of their skill). Dual-wielding would mean no two-handed melee weapons.

You are right - I should have been more specific - they are required to slide 2 melee pucks.

I like this but wow an UR consumable? Even if he prints what 5000 of each UR which he doesn't that's still gonna have to be put into reprint a lot...but what if it took up a more useful slot? Like head

What if the fighters got something else? I don't know the fighter class well but there most be some class specific powers you want? Or maybe a boost to your abilities? Extra swing?

Found the thread for you Here .

Tome of moderate healing user can cast cure moderate wounds, (insert points healed here) and if they get the cleric check correct they get (insert additional amount here). Once per game

This should probably be in the “transmute ideas please” thread, but I wanted to add to the conversation here.

I don't think UR consumables (which have been printed before), are ever in particularly high demand. Look at UR Special ? - it's been printed twice, once in 2007 and once in 2015.

Head is a pretty weak slot - excepting it's ability to complete set bonuses.

Each of these slots seems more powerful than Head to me:

Mainhand(s)
Neck
Waist
Hands
Legs
Rings
Charms
Torso
Back
Boots
