What sets do you anticipate completing with this item? I guess I'm not seeing the draw, as I don't think I would use it to complete even a defenders set. Is it to help complete sets that are oop?

I like it if I can add one to any set, such as to the viper strike set. It might need a tdb entry that lists applicable sets in that case though as I think the eldritch set should be excluded. If it needs to be slot for slot I feel like a wardrobe of many colors should be created, and the clothes to put in it.

Wardrobe of many colors your many colors sets may count as one piece from two sets.

Obviously :
Shirt of many colors
Pants of many colors
Shield of many colors
Belt of many colors

Etc

My idea was something similar to what mac said, an alternative to fill a needed set slot. I was thinking they could replace OOP tokens or give an alternative to some of the set head items that don't give an AC bonus. Part of the problem would be trying to balance the AC or whatever against current set pieces. I feel each piece would need to be slightly weaker to make up for being usable with any set.

I worry (perhaps unduly) that this type of item could prohibit of any future sets or token design, just my two cents.

I thought at first this would be so awful in the hands of a ranger or monk. Then remembered that an Asher's +5 Viper Strike Fang has the same damage wheel as a Welfor's +5 Slayer Sword.

Io's +4 Ultra Keen Slayer Bow would be usable by more classes (if they had the dex to do so).

Maybe there is something I am not thinking of that would make this bad. Future tokens I guess. If the Paladin gets a cool transmute weapon next year that does paly stuff seeing it in a rogue's hands might feel odd.

1. It gives Rogues access to two handed weapons - and everyone but Ranger access to Deathcleaver. It gives Bards access to every two handed weapon except the one common they can already use.

2. It would give everyone access to the Holy Avernger transmute - certainly constrining design on that token.

3. It is the future I see - Druid's complaining that Wizards now get a Polymorph bonus from using the Baton of Focus.

4. It's going to cause confusion and arguments about whether Rangers can use 2 handed weapons and slide only one puck, or slide two pucks.

I think this is a very risky idea - and once the genie is out of the bottle, it can never get back in.

Start smaller to verify it doesn't break everything:

Tome of Yadayada:
You may equip any rare weapon.

Tome of Yadayada:
You may equip any head slot item.

Or limit it to the rarity of weapon to the rarity of the tome. Give it an uncommon brother Tome of the Weapon Apprentice and a Book of the Weapon Beloved before Scrawlings of the Weapon Purist and its older brother Bibliography of a Weapon Artist and the fin-ale, Drwaven Guide to the Kitchen Cutlery, for Elves.

I agree it should be tested at Rare or lower first. The original poster did not say it gave extra hands so the Ranger can single wield a two handed axe, one puck, not two.

I like the idea of tiered books for the lvls of rarity. And ya it does seem to get confusing. What I'm looking to do is open up the bards offensive capabilities. With the new transmutes for the bard I feel weapons are gonna pay a more pivotal role. In all honesty I'd love to be able to use IOs bow as I prefer to be a ranged bard.

What about weapon type specific tomes. One for ranged one for swords, one for axes and maces and so on? Or am I over complicating it?
