Would make it easier to trigger while still technically being a drawback since your taking more damage.

Yes please. If I remember correctly in dnd, rogues could use off class magic items. This would allow that feature without having to change the class card.

Not historically in TD anyway, were normally limited to off hand trinkets horns, mugs, bottles, etc

I don't think the battle rager plate would be popular as written. You want lower ac as a feature, enough that the set bonus gives -ac. Given the mail and plate have the same retribution damage, but the plate has higher ac, you would prefer the mail. You may want to consider making the mail 5 retribution damage and leaving the plate at 10, or giving some other advantage to the plate, such as a melee damage bonus like powered plate mail.

Historically, how often are set bonuses printed? Every couple of years?

I remember Jeff specifically saying that he didn't want to add a set bonus for the Bliss Bull line because reasons. Primarily- to avoid having too many set bonuses to keep track of.

The last one I can think of was the Charming Set. I suppose I'd be surprised to see a new set bonus in 2020.

Would love to see some new Viper Strike love, though. Tracking down a fang is proving to be very wallet-crushing.
