Yes - also I see it's once per combat so it would only be 2 extra attacks.

Still - I think these kind of 'LOOK AT ME' mechanics are bad in a party game.

When one player is taking up substantially more than 10% of the DMs time its not conducive to an enjoyable group experience.


Hmm? Look at me mechanics are the heart and soul of a party game. The tank is supposed to get the monster to focus on her, ignore the more squishy people. The fact that TD bypasses this so often is a major source of annoyance to many of us.

That said, I agree that this token is problematic, both in its time consumption and lack of clarity.

Maybe it is was something like:
Charm of Frenzy
+5 to to hit and damage on your next melee attack. The monster you attack must attack you on its next turn, and gets +3 to hit and damage. (1/combat)
Usable by: Barbarian & Fighters



My was more along the lines against a token that might have one player taking an action that will require the DM a substantial amount of time to resolve. These kinds of actions do not contribute to a good team / party experience.


I am not a fan of 'Taunt' like abilities. The monster gets only 1-2 actions for every 10 the party has. If there are multiple ways to bring about 'monster must X' then it becomes easy for the party to dictate all the monsters actions.

We've seen similar things be a problem before - the Monk's Stunning Fist ability had to be changed because players figured out ways to basically stun lock the monster.

Figurine of power: ghost - 1/game, summon ghost for rest of combat, it deals 8 force damage to any monster each round.

I equip that, and that tome of necromancy, and medallion of mystic mouth, AND i cast a spell or scroll...finally, wizard can do more things than bard or druid summoner.

You know that would be a cool build, every round you activate another damage over time effect until you build up to a crazy output. Kinda the opposite of the current blow everything all up front style of wizardry.

I'm a big fan of the concept of a sliding mechanic for wizards that keys off of Focus level. Since Gregor's is +2 to that stat, you'd be sacrificing some focus oomph to equip the Neconomicon. I suppose it would ultimately depend on what difficulty I was running and whether or not I had a decent Staff of Focus.

I just feel like as a paladin that I have a hard time healing or guarding someone evil enough to use that book.
