My point was that by equipping a staff of power, I would be able to help us win initiative before and after lesser Maze, which would allow us to heal and buff while essentially "cheating" the last monster out of a round of combat.

I dont know if +10.from the charms is enough for us to win init on NM, but I believe that +20 would be most of the time (not counting the Rakshasa)

Is it a good thing to have? Sure
Is it worth losing Drake's for? Nope
Worth losing an ISGN? Maybe

The monster getting 1 turn before you cast lesser maze though doesn't seem that big of deal to me. Someone else can remind me how it works, but I thought you could cast it at the end of the player round to gain your free round and then roll for init again when it comes back.

My thought is
Cast alertness as a scroll
Party wins init
Party attacks
Wizard casts lesser Maze as last player action
Monster blinks out
Party heals/buffs
Monster blinks in
Cast alertness off card
Party wins init
Party attacks

Basically if we win init first round, we get to heal and buff before monster comes back, and if we win init 2nd round we get to attack again.

Ultimately not a huge deal either way, but a free round (or 2) against the biggest combat could be nice

agreed could be nice just not sure if 1 token is worth it, but your call you are playing the class.

I'm also debating dropping a nugget for an extra cast of the group heal. I expect us to take some puzzle fail damage, and the extra 30 hp could actually mean something.

i would drop cloak of blending first. but that is me. everyone else is likely going armor less.

Yeah I'm convinced. Dropped the cloak for the crown of expertise. Jedi and I have our pretty much locked builds in the spreadsheet. If others feel they are ready, we can start getting everyone's builds in there and see what we might need to loan/borrow.
