Thanks for the feedback, folks! I'll definitely check out the Pi case recommendations. Heat dissipation is on my mind as we go through the process. And yes, we'll be able to tweak the volume for an individual sound effect without affecting the rest of the volume in the room - great idea!

The sound in the mushroom room was extremely challenging. I could only tell what 2-3 of them were saying. It is hard to solve a puzzle when you literally cannot understand all the clues. (If our Rogue hadn’t gotten the clue and cut down the options dramatically, we would have been in a lot of trouble.) Paying an extra $2 run will be totally worth it if the changes make it possible to put the music and narrative in separate tracks and drop the music down when the vocal stuff is happening. Fingers crossed.

Code changes for individually specified track volume levels is done and working.

Code to lower/mute background audio volume then bring it back up after an effect plays is in debugging right now and is looking good.

Good question, but I hope its Origins (and not just because I'll be there). I would hope they would want to test the new system live and work out any remaining bugs before they get to Gen Con. But I guess it all depends on whether they think they're ready by then or not.

As long as were throwing out wish list ideas, it would be cool if you had the ability to trigger audio (and maybe video/lighting) sequences from sensors connected to the pis inputs. You can get a lot of cool sensors for pis. To say nothing of the fun you could have controlling video to to LCD panels if Ed's new combat boards take off.

It would also be neat if npcs had the option to enable/disable their audio tracks depending if their voice was shot or they wanted to act.

Not sure on the feasibility but being able to connect to a critical audio track for the hearing impaired would also be cool.
