Apologies if this has been asked and answered - but I was looking for more detail than I could find on tokendb...

tokendb.com/?fwp_token_search=enhance%20disguise

"Adds +5 to Disguise checks for the rest of the room

This is not a polymorph potion. It won’t change your shape, it just helps you to blend in with your surroundings."

Here's the thing... when has there been a disguise check in the dungeon... Just curious.... this is one of the most intriguing potions I've seen in a while... I just can't figure when or where to use it!

Thoughts?

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

I was once on a run where all to of us entered the room and turned in the disguise potion. We were all the wizard so the monster didn't know who to attack. That was just us being creative in grind though.

Tokens are designed months in advance. Sometimes the module changes because a mechanic is deemed too clunky or a monster is redesigned. Tokens which were once important get written out of a job in the middle of the Con, and sometimes before the Con even starts.

I’m pretty sure there are a few like that in the 2018 collection.

We did something similar in a different Grind, one of us disguised ourself as a cultist. Then proceeded to walk into the cult meeting and started attacking.

Grind - yeah - I could see some fun with that in grind!

I buy that. I just thought that this one in particular could have a lot of fun side uses.

The alternate possibility is that Jeff is just messing with our heads. :P
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Based on that it almost sounds like disguise could be a standard mechanism by which to get a surprise round before combat year over year.

Based on some of the other "useless" items from the year disquise was printed, I suspected there might have been a plan to have a mechanic where a character in a hood, who could not be identified by smell got to roll a disquise check to do something, maybe open a window to blinding sunlight or something that was scrapped from the final design. that's pure speculation though.

I'd be curious to see how often DMs would roll with it. I think I mulched most of my potions of disguise though.

I know I am necroing a thread, but I have to say that Origins' True Raid I drank 2 of these to attempt to guise myself as Lori to full Avery. It did not work but it was fun nonetheless.
