TOPIC: N series review

N series review 5 years 8 months ago #13

I think Barry pointed out the need for a mobility issue pass-around. It was in place for all of the runs, including GT.

The inflatable bags were way easier one-at-a-time. The more people in the tunnel, the more resistance there was. I also tried to get a little momentum going to start and to lower my center of gravity a bit to have purchase. That seemed to carry me through faster than trying to just squeeze in at the beginning standing up straight.

I was the guy who pointed out the need for a bypass. as an AC that's part of what I do.
The room order for N2 is:
1 Valkerie/squueze
2 Ice Beast
3 Stepping Stones
4 Troll Shaman
5 Frost Giants
6 Arrows
7 World Tree

I like the initial review, and N2 was tough to dial in. We had more than a few groups go to time on the Ice Beast, and then not heal or push at room 3 dropping them into Back to back fights which killed more than a few. We made some timing adjustments to give the parties more "breathing room", and probably should have toned down the Giants in room 5.

As for not being told they could hide in the cage, I'm a bit torn between "help out the Party" and "Reward those who are clever". I don't want to make it too easy, though it seems we left it a bit too hard.
-Master Li Lou Bahn, Terror of the East, Master of Shadows, Pillager of the province of Ch'in, Mandarin of the Emporer Shou Wei, Ambassador to the foreign devils of the West, and the most dangerous ninja in all of Greyhawk."cause I'm the only ninja in all of Gwehawk!!!"

I'm quite fit, and found it a struggle, though easily the most memorable thing I've seen yet in TD.

I wonder how they handled it with players with mobility issues/chairs.

They had an alternate path for people like me... and it was available even for the first Golden Ticket Run...

I did all 3 of the N series. The N1 Astral journey scenery was Fantastic and was very good. I liked it. The NPC were well designed. Loved the Rainbow bridge.

N2 Odin' haven scenery was also Fantastic. NPC were well designed. The Giants were very difficult for our party to fight in Normal difficulty. They were nice in appearance but very hard hitting. The Tree was very good in design and in a puzzle aspect.

N3-Vault well looked very good. The party did not do well in this one.

Over all: I loved the scenery and the NPC's Some of the Monsters seemed to be a bit overpowered for the Normal difficulty like the Giants in N2. N3 was seemed to be a little to puzzle heavy for my taste, then again I like playing a fighter.
I liked it all for the most part.

I was a bit freaked by the membrane for a second or two, but then burst out laughing. It was clever and fun. But I can see how some might have had a problem with it.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

I always enjoy reading your reviews. They are good measuring stick for how we did this convention.

You guys all did great this year, mad karma to all the ACs this year for really stepping up and giving Jeff & family the space they needed to deal with personal stuff :)

With respect to the Giants, maybe tone them down a little for normal, but for hardcore or nightmare I think many people appreciated a fight where the outcome wasn't a given.

I think some groups were a little freaked when they got pushed to room 6 at less than full health, when all they really needed was enough hp to survive push damage from the puzzle. And room 7 you either solved it or you didn't. You only needed 1 hp going into the room.
