Hitting AC 40? Do you mean consistently or with a good roll? I ask because i think most of my builds will have an AC between 20 and 30; is it worth the effort to push for 30AC, or will i get hit every time anyway, so i might as well ignore my AC and load up on offense?

There weren't a ton of ac attacks and Stu only missed one against us and he rolled a one. I think the most brutal we're reflex and fort saves but some we're just take 20 damage. I am throwing on some gloves of glory and borrowing a supreme ring of evasion. Just so when I fail those saves I only take half.

My conclusion from Jeffogorgon was that unless you have an absolute ton of AC (40-50) you might as well have 0. That could change though, you never know.

Damage mitigation (Supreme Ring and Kvothe's Bloodless for example) and high HP helped me a lot as Barbarian. And have Mystic Mushrooms and Ash’s Death Pouch GP ready.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

Do kvothes and ashs fall into the instantaneous actions or do we have to burn actions to prep them now?

Hopefully, the DM's for this event will make concessions for under-geared players. Is Eric running this all weekend?

Even with a great wizard build on loan from Harlax, I was underpowered for TDC. Raven (one of the three DMs) was absolutely awesome in coaching. (No surprise there.) She bumped a bunch of my stats on the party card so that I had a prayer of staying alive long enough to have some fun. But death did come fast. And twice. (The last and final death in a glorious suicidal lightning storm with MEC.)

I hope the coaches/DMs will be prepared to do something similar for underpowered players at Origins. It was great.

Nevertheless, this event is kind of like Tracy Hickman’s Killer Breakfast. Expect to die. Question is whether you can do so with glory. Or at least dignity.

In our run underpowered characters got 50 percent damage reduction.

Glory, sure.

Dignity? Does being polymorphed into a duck sound like dignity to you? :P

Good question.
To function properly they need to be instantaneous actions. or Non-actions all together. Its just an effect that lowers or mitigates damage so it doesn't require an action. IMO
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

I don’t think you can prep anything, let alone Druegar’s or Ash’s, if you’re dead.

I created that build for a friend of my son. It had two virtues. A MEC and 75 HP. Otherwise, it's at the low end of Nightmare capable.

It was a great build by any measure (remarkable that it was essentially a backup build!), and a true kindness from Harlax that I still haven’t properly repaid. Perfect for me, perfect for the situation, and still very much appreciated.

Jeff, you might want to edit that “Big” adjective. Otherwise, Lori might be coming for you, too.
