So I am running a golden ticket for a friend of mine but am also volunteering. I sent in a response to my GenCon schedule saying I am fine with the schedule, I just need to be out in time to do the run. Seeing as how many of you are also volunteers, should I just accept my schedule, or did I do it right by letting them know?

First time volunteering so similar question for Wednesday night it lists:

Storyscape Outside Dungeon - Volunteer All-Hands Meeting & Training 5-9:30PM. Also have GT run, but I assume this will work out okay.

Same here, although I did email Lori a while ago and received a response that it should still be fine to do the GT run if I'm a volunteer.

So right now my gencon plans are kinda up in the air, my initial plans to get a room fell through as well as my backup plans and honestly cannot justify the 1500$+ hotel rooms on my own. I know im prob SOL for my Golden Ticket run but wanted to know if there was any other option? If I cannot make it its basically forfeited right?

I am lucky enough to possess a golden ticket

I know people that came just for the GT run then skipped the rest of GC. They stayed out by the airport for Tue and Wed night and left, it was way cheaper

That's looking like it may be my best option. Might see about staying out there wed/thurs nights and just uber in for a day or 2 and fly home Friday. 2 nights arnt too bad. Thanks for the tip Laz!

I think you still need a gencon badge, but could get by with just a Thursday badge to save some money.

you only need the hotel for showering and napping
