That was kind of the way it was with me and some plane tickets. If I canceled it I only got a credit, but if I waited for the airline to cancel them then I got a refund.

It's almost certain that Origins and GHC have significantly different relationships with their venues than Gen Con does. Gen Con takes over almost every available function space in the ICC, LOS, the attached hotels, plus the whole Georgia Street block party and some other nearby venues (White River State Park, some bars/clubs/restaurants).

I remember reading/hearing at some point that Gen Con also works hand-in-glove with the Indianapolis tourism bureau to a much greater extent than other conventions, just due to its size. The deep coordination with all the surrounding hotels certainly suggests that.

So, I wouldn't be surprised if Gen Con has obligations to very strictly align their communications with the city and state.

At this time everyone is stuck in a wait and see moment. Gen Con is scheduled to make another announcement in about 2-3 weeks I believe.

Sadly at this time, even if things go ahead Australians will not be able to travel to the US till the end of year at the earliest, limitations on travel are expected to be there for up to another 2 years.

This would have been my 16th Gen Con and my 12th year of True Dungeon.

Missing the GT run is painful but above all not seeing my mates over there hurts most of all

it will hurt not seeing my aussie mate.

I believe gen con has a lot more hoops to jump through to try and reschedule between other existing obligations to the convention hall and the NFL schedule if that happens too. Maybe Origins acting early and settling g on a later date may save that convention.

Origins is going with a date that coincides with an Ohio State home football game. I’m amazed they could work out the hotel situation.

Origins does not have a hotel block for the new date. It is a free for all.
