TOPIC: Origins may have moved but the gaming must continue!!!

Origins may have moved but the gaming must continue!!! 4 months 3 weeks ago #1

In light of Origins being moved I thought it would be a great opportunity to still game with some of you during early June. I would like to host a True Dungeon inspired D&D (5E) one shot on one of the days the Con was supposed to happen. Imagine going through one of your favorite TD landscapes in a different medium.

I will host the game on Roll 20 and will take a group of 4-5 brave adventures through a fun 2-3 hour session.
If there is more interest I may run the module on different days.

If you are a DM and would like to join my fun project no matter what system or edition and would like to do our part to have fun as a community in this trying time just reach out. It is my hope that this small concept can have a big impact.

Let me know if you are interested!

Definitely interested.

My regular 5e game has been using roll20 for a little over a month now, and I think it works pretty well.

Justice, are you thinking of using the built-in audio and video chat, or a separate tool for that?

I recommend using Discord or Zoom or a free phone conference line. Roll20's audio/visual is not good. We've found it's best to shut it off completely while in-game because even when not in use and not turned off it acts up.

Roll20 is an online tabletop. It allows you to use maps, move tokens around the maps, roll whatever you need, and set up macros to make rolling easier. It also has video and voice chat built into it, though my group has always ignored that and just used discord. Most people do. You can get a free account that does everything you need it to. They do have premium accounts, but those basically just unlock some extra bells and whistles DMs might want to use like dynamic lighting.

You lost me at 5th edition. 1st Edition D&D for the win. Because 1st is ROLEplaying and anything else is ROLLplaying.

Rogan do you think you could run a 1st ed as a one shot? I know there would be many (myself included) that may have never experienced it and would love to give it a try

I too love 1st Edition, but it has some of the fiddliest rules around, making it far more about ROLLplaying IMO. Just the way they do fireball is enough to force you to do some calculus...….
